My ex would often recite this or variants of it to make me change. "A real man does __" or "you need to be man enough to __". I'm done with ltrs because all women at some level have a warped definition of masculinity. Protectors provides and/or procreators. The only labels women can assign to men. I dont really by the whole "i just want a life partner" speech i often hear from my female peers. It seems rather dishonest and they don't realize it.

Never heard it, because those lines only work (and hence are attempted on) people who appear to be or are sensitive about their masculinity etc.

No one has ever said "be a man" to me, because it has no mileage with me.

it is a thing mothers and fathers teach their sons. I rarely can find an example when such can be said to a girl, but to a boy? All the damn time. So if your mother or father used to use this tactics on you, chances are, other people will use it on you when you grow up.
