Okay guys, vent warning.

I had a conversation with my dad a while back. I'm divorced with two kids and being stereotypically dragged through the coals so I was venting to him about it. He's 65 and of the mindset of "I don't want to hear excuses. You make shit happen on your own regardless of circumstance, no if ands or buts, shut up and stop blaming others". This is all fine advice in general and I abide to it in a general sense myself, but when given this answer in the context of divorce and the fallout from it, its just like...."fuck man,... no one cares". I lost everything. Kids, half of my income and I have to rent bedrooms or studio apartments for over twenty fucking years now and my ex remarried a guy who didn't work for five years and lived on my support. Only recently did he get a job for the first time. My ex draws support, from me, now his income, welfare of all sorts, family money, family support, lives in a big box home, drives decent cars etc etc. I never get to see my kids because I have to chase work around to keep a roof over my head and if I quit or lose the job, I'll end up in jail. I have a good job, but after support, I'm left with relatively little.

I try and explain my circumstances to my dad but he wants none of it. "Stop complaining and man up" are essentially his only points of advice".

His latest statements were:

-(I repeat this comment to myself out loud in Hank Hill's voice) "When are you going to pull your head out of your ass and get your shit together?" Okay dad, Five years in the Marine Corps, a decent career, a Bachelor's degree and zero criminal record and I'm a fuck-up? I'm worse than the high school flunky my ex married and who lives on my child support exclusively and who you keep "liking" the family photos of on Facebook, minus your own son being in the picture while entirely ignoring my social media?

-"I'm sorry you have to deal with all of the socialist policy in divorce, but there is nothing I can do for you".

"Nothing he can do", but guess who voted Green party this last election? MMMmmmm HHHHHMMmmm....

I know he isn't stupid but he is totally unwilling to take a look at the world right now and all of the information available. He doesn't want to see it. He just wants to live in his retirement bubble, which in itself is fine. He worked hard his whole life after all. But his cognitive dissonance is enormous and vast and it frustrates the fuck out of me. If you want an example of your low information voter, well...here ya go.

Which brings me to my next point. This whole situation is ENTIRELY the fault of my parent's generation. My mother is the same as my father minus any shred of intelligence. She practically lives in costco and fills her house with tens of thousands of dollars of useless shit. Brand new fifth wheel at 70k, new F2f50 for 90k, new BMW for 90k as well, luxury home on the coast for 450k, luxury vacations twice or more per year, heavy gambler, heavy drinker, never worked in her life.

I could be on the streets and starving and getting hosed by the family courts and the answer would be "I'm sorry. I can't help you. I don't wanna hear it. You just need to man up and make things happen".

All of these boomers kicked the can down the road, sold their kids out and they don't give a flying fuck about how the world is right now. So long as they enjoy their retirements thoroughly, free from the consequences of the world they created for their kids, who now have to live in it, un-fuck things and possibly fight a coming war, these boomers really could give a fuck.

Led Zeppelin maaaaannn. Fight the man maaaaannnnnnn.... Peace and love maaaaaannnnn. Then they grew into the greatest economy the world has ever seen, paid for by the blood and toil of their parent's generation, reaped the maximum benefit from it, fucking destroyed it and handed it's corpse to their kids and demanded their kids make something of themselves with the lifeless, fucked-up waste as well. They took the check and never looked back.

Now I understand that this isn't the fault of the boomer at the individual level. If you are a boomer and you're reading this, chances are you aren't one of these people and thank you for taking the time to seek out independent information outside of your bubble world. Boomers in general were the first generation to really be under the indoctrination of pop media and they didn't have access to free information like millennial do with the current free internet, so their disconnect with reality isn't entirely their fault. Sixty years of ingesting media solely from Hollyweird would be nearly impossible to reverse and if you aren't suffering from something, you likely aren't going to actively seek out answers to why shits fucked up. Its just a fact of human nature so it is what it is.

But the fact remains. Boomers did this to us. They are responsible for the condition of the west as it is right now. They took the fruits their parents bled, scraped, clawed and fough valiantly for and threw it all into the shitter for for brief and shallow convenience, comfort and vanity.

Now Xers, Millenials and My kid's generation, Gen Z who will be the next Greatest Generation are going to have to bleed and toil to Un-Fuck the west, all without a shred of acknowledgment or sympathy from their parents/grandparents, who are too pre-occupied with buying shit at costco, Gambling away the remains of any inheritance or estate and Jamming out to the Who....totally oblivious to the chaos around them.

With as readily available as free information is right now, and likely entirely could be for the next thousand years if we lose this fight, with shit like sesame credit or social credit systems on the horizon, if you see any individual of any generation apathetically disregarding it in favor of convenience, entertainment or other such vanity, give them a genuine Fuck You.
