Ihave enough savings that if i want something, i can just buy it when i want it. I dont find myself wanting things too often though, im pretty anti materialistic.

No but this thread gives me an idea. Each week, I should find something to throw out. We accumulate shit but never seem to get rid of it. Will I ever need that old samsung phone charger? Probably not.

Abso-fucking-lutely - but not for a lack of social life but because a social life is overrated.

When I used to socialise after work I got sick of two things.

The first was the posturing of the fuckwit males I worked with as they all tried to out-alpha each other with bullshit stories.

The second were the females vying for attention from the would-be alphas.

Social life revolving around competitive sports was good when I was younger but that's about it.

When I was a kid I used to buy comic books and stuff.

When I started working I would generally have enough leftover.each month after paying rent and expenses to purchase one big ticket item, like a game console or expensive gear. This was until age 25.

Now I'm more future oriented. $20 bucks you save by sacrificing lunch today can go towards your investment account and can earn compound interest. Or even saving it in the bank so that it can bail you out of a future emergency.

Sure. Got a bit of a shoe collection. Tools for days(actually starting to run out of space sadly). Custom built motorcycle. And a nice desktop computer setup. Plan on getting a few more cars this coming year. Looking at a Nissan Altima 3.0 as a new daily and a 1987 Monte Carlo as a project car. Hard to find people who share my hobbies in my area sadly.

As far as something I regularly purchase, I don't really have anything. I'll buy a pair of shoes here, a new tool set there. So it varies from time to time. Right now I'm working on building up a new wardrobe, then it's onto the new cars.

Social life is for people who don’t have money to buy cool toys.

That being said, I play Magic: the Gathering and it’s a very social game. Also an expensive one. I can easily spend a few hundred on a few cards (or just one).

For me it’s usually something that I’ll use a lot. Like a guitar pedal, or whatever. If I buy something for the most part, it’s gotta be intangible. I might buy a digital book, or go see a movie or something. But I don’t do that too often.

No. I fell into a trap of doing stuff like that when I was married because I was so unhappy. I had enough kit to outfit a squad for 6 months....She left, I ebay'd all of it, pretty much paid for the divorce, and I felt pretty good about getting rid of stuff so I kept doing it. I buy things related to some of the hobbies I have, but I don't collect things or have anything that doesn't serve a purpose.

Other than furniture and tools, and my kids and their stuff of course, I could move all of what I would need in a day, and it feels pretty good.

Plan to get a small thing of gourmet ice creme after work, it may only be about 3 cups of creme at most, will last me a good 4 days, but 8 for a fun treat does not break the bank. I could also spend 13 to go see a movie, really depends how I feel on 2 hours. I just spent 4K on a tablet and toon boom premium animation software so I plan to keep practicing and learning more animation tonight after I get ice creme.

Nope. I tend to have a social life but being with friends, not a leach, it's relatively inexpensive and I buy big things when I want them.
