My ex has "depression" and the reason she never does house work, is always tires, gaining weight, eating like shit, etc is because she is depressed. When she feels like this she said she needs to start talking her Adderall.

I have been struggling with bad anxiety for a few years and there have been days when I feel depressed and sit at home for a day not doing anything because it all seems pointless. I still get my ass up and drag into work on Monday. After feeling this way for a few weeks I drag my ass to the gym a few times and start feeling a little better. maybe start cleaning the house extra, or cooking weird meals, helping my buddy fix up his house, and slowly over time get back into the groove of things and feel great until the next big "FU" that life throws at me.

I guess my question is, am I not experiencing depression or is my ex depressed due to lack of doing anything fulfilling?? I feel like her and a bunch of other girls I know expect pills to be the magical cure for depression when in reality, they are just a quick pick-me-up, without really doing anything to actually help the depression.
