I’m not a huge soccer fan but the US women’s team is incredibly talented. The problem is they agreed to a contracted pay structure, and then or trying to get out of it to be able to get more money. All they need to do is not make the same mistake next time.

Compared to what? Other women's teams? Little League? It's incredibly boring and slow-paced to watch filled with lesbians who want to be men, and they routinely get beaten by 14 and under boys teams. Watching women's sports is like watching a group of retards trying to figure out the Theory of Relativity.

don't be defensive. everyone has the right to sport, the issue is that then their compensation should be balanced to the viewership they pull in. i'd rather watch women's tennis, gymnastics and volleyball then men's. i agree mostly women's sports are boring and watching women compete in physical endeavors is always a bit laughable. but then I find golf the most fucking boring ass shit in the world and those fucker make tens of millions.
so I don't mind when people want to watch "amateur" sports which is basically what women sports is. if you want physical excellence, you will always watch men's sports.

No it's literally not. When 14 year old and under boys can beat you regularly, and you're the "best in the world" for a decade it's not even amateur at that point.
As you state, personal earnings should be relative to the viewership they pull in, but USWNT signed a terrible contract because they're idiots, and now they're paying the consequences for that. They're not getting paid less because they're women, but because they made poor business decisions as an organization.
But what about the WNBA where the stadiums are always empty, TV ratings are barely existent, and they operate as a net loss as a company? So why are they still in business, and why are their athletes still making millions of dollars a year? The difference is they had good lawyers who created good contracts which leach off of NBA profits and keep the organization afloat, even though the whole ship should have sank years ago.

agreed. but maybe if I was a woman i'd want to watch women sports. so there is an audience. and if you're the best woman at a specific sport, you are a professional, simply a professional woman. which compared to an 8 year old boy isn't much but yeah, among that gender is very talented and we should champion women excelling within their gender boundaries as much as society is now trying to tell us these boundaries don't matter. like I don't mind congratulating women doing specific tasks as they as they realize for many of said tasks, it is inferior to the work of men. but you can't take someone down for trying to excel at something. as stupid and hypocritical and overpoliticized as these dumb soccer players are, at least they aren't fat whales on welfare with 5 different baby daddys.
but as you eloquently say, its a breakdown of business bargaining during key contract negotiations. some very bad programming is on TV because it pulls in amazing viewership. doesn't judge judy make like 200 million a year or something. good for her, if she can pull those #'s in, she deserves the lions share of the profits. and the truth is men like sports for competition and women aren't competitive because they cannot master their sports like men can.

You're not serious are you? You realize many of those "out of shape fat lineman" can run faster than professional soccer players? A soccer player who can run for 90 minutes straight without stopping is certainly in shape, but a 325 lb powerlifter who can bench press 400 lbs, squat 600 lbs, and deadlift 700 lbs is also in incredible athlete who is in amazing shape regardless of how big his belly is. You're comparing apples to oranges.
Also, American football players (specifically running backs and cornerbacks) are some of the best athletes on the planet. The US Men's Soccer team not making the olympics doesn't mean that professional male athletes in the US are not athletic, it just means we just don't give a fuck about soccer.
