Well, it's not all that bad. Chances are good the guy is going to be paying for his own gifts anyway, so buying him cheaper gifts is probably a good thing. Anything he really wants he can buy himself, but if the wife buys some expensive gift for him, it might end up that the guy had to pay a lot for a shitty gift.
