I am so tired of seeing women whining about debt from college. When I was in graduate school I was delivering pizza part time to lessen the burden of the cost. My female classmates spent those same Friday evenings going to bars, hooking up with whatever guy they wanted to. Guess who had less debt?

I'm assuming most of that debt is for the post-graduate proportion of her accreditation. She messed up, but on the other hand the colleges bear some of the blame for inflating their costs and the government also bears some of the blame for lending all this money, sight unseen, to a gullible 20 year old.

As a sanders supporter myself, Bernie isn't going to help that 226k debt. (that's nearly 5x my student debt and thats over 7 years of college) how they hell did you even rack up that much?

damn... is basic math that hard? I learned the concepts of saving and interest when I was 8.

My nephew is 19. He doesn't know what he wants to do. I told him when I was his age I just partied and didn't worry about it. Three majors and 8 years of JC and state college/university later I graduated with an electrical engineering degree, $2,000 total debt and basically nothing but the clothes on my back. Is college more expensive today? Yes and No. I looked into it and these days a LOT can be accomplished over the internet and Junior College is still a cheap way to knock off a lot of basic classes needed in the first two years of any degree. I was talking to a high school girl who works at my local coffee shop. She is a junior in high school and is taking these on-line accredited college courses and figures she will have a complete year of college credits by the time she graduates high school. That is SMART.

I talked my nephew into staying at home with his mom for at least two more years, enroll in the local JC, keep his part time waiter job and BE SMART about all this. Also, don't waste time with some worthless degree. And consider a STEM career.

I will never understand how certain young people can be so completely stupid about money and debt.
