I had a conversation with a girl last week. She studies business and will make her thesis about the ''gender pay gap''. The moment she said she chose this topic, I couldn't help and lose interest in her.

I discussed this with her. The conversation went surprisingly well and she listened to my perspective as a male, which was a nice surprise. My main concern was ''how are you going to prove there is a wage gap based on gender discrimination''? I realize there is a wage gap but I feel there are dozen other factors that play a role that isn't discriminating. Maybe women chose lower-paid careers, maybe they leave the workforce sooner, maybe they don't ask for a promotion.

There's so much to it. So I basically told her it's impossible to prove all of this. She told me all the data is online. So I can already tell what kind of conclusions she will come up with.

I am interested in this now. How would you prove this in a logical way? And is there actually a way to prove this for her? She studies general business, she's not a data scientist. It seems like a waste of time if you ask me.
