I disagree with this one actually, since marriage is a tradcon institution, I think a consistent tradcon approach is appropriate here:

1 she can't take whatever she wants with her

2 he pays all the bills, so he's the boss

3 she doesn't pay for anything and she is accountable to him

4 he is responsible for her well-being

In such a setup, refusing to work outside and not paying any bills, can be what both parties signed up for and may expect.

The problem starts when a woman demands both to be recognized as a strong independent woman AND to get everything paid for by someone else and then some foolish, desperate guy agrees to that.

That said, NEVER GET MARRIED, especially in the West where the only the wallets get married and not the people whom those wallets belong to, but in the old context, she could be making sense.
