why would H&M want to even do this? if anything, they'd do a slight skew the other way so when you're in H&M, you can feel taller and skinnier.

if you really want evidence that women are all about feelz over realz, just look at vanity sizing. clothing manufacturers have been doing this shit for decades. they increases physical sizes while keeping the numbers small. on the bottom end, they had to add new numbers, and now you have 000 size womens clothing. fatties are more likely to buy shit when you lie to them and tell them they're skinnier.
