150K to married man with 2-3 kids is about equivalent of a single man making 38K, plus a single man doesnt need much, if you live at home, and dont need to pay rent a single man can live really well on 38K a year, but if you live in a city like boston, your looking at at least 12k per year after taxes down the drain just from housing expenses. rent, plus utilities, house supplies, internet, 1k per month is conservative. The car is the next biggest expense, then any substances you might enjoy, if you can avoid all these expenses, and invest, your guaranteed to win. do what I did, lived at home, use that money to buy gold and crypto and get rich quick!

$60K a year as a single man with no debt. You could probably retire at 45 if you did 401(k), Roth IRA and investing. Also maybe pick up MTB-ing and have a blast and live in a nice house. Set for life.

So yes, if you’re responsible and have your expenses under control and are able to save for the future and prioritize things like your retirement nest egg... then you can live well. You actually spend a large amount of money on women in a relationship. Additionally, all your money is OUR money. Her money stays HER money.

A married man is spending all his money on everyone else. You could invest your money into self improvement. Gaining better skills or simply doing what you enjoy.

Then there’s the inevitability of divorce. Factor that in and how much you’re likely to lose in divorce. Do you still think the married man is better off?

It really depends on where you live. Also depends on your spending and savings habits.

I lived in Idaho for a long time. My salary ranged from 36k - 75k over a 15 year period. Was tight at first as I was repaying student loans. I was slowly able to contribute to retirement.

A job change took me to Southern California for 7 years. Rents are atrocious and the higher wages don’t go as far as you think. It’s why I laugh about the ‘6 figures’ requirement.

I’m in the Bay Area now and it’s even more expensive. My values around money have stayed the same. I’ve continued to prioritize retirement savings.

Never having been married has definitely helped. I’ve never needed flashy cars or extravagant housing.

I do have hobbies and interests that I spend money on, but I feel you need to live a bit now.

It's not how much you make, it's how much you spend. Not just fast food or buying shit online. I'm talking your mortgage/rent, insurance, utilities, etc.

Without a wife or kids, you are spending far less right off the bat, but most likely living in a modest house/apartment/condo instead of some four bedroom house you can barely afford the minimum payments on just because your wife nagged you about "needing more space". You're not paying for expensive dinners (and babysitters) to watch your wife finger-fuck her phone (that you pay the bills for like a cuck) all evening. You don't have to worry about paying off HER cock-carousel college loans, only your own.

Not buying food and insurance for dependents is a lot of money you get to keep.

Now, if you buy an expensive house and car and like your hobbies and eating out and so on... It won't go very far.

If you don't, you will live well and have money to invest.

Single and making about 65k. Just got out of all debt except mortgage at 750 a month. I bought my first house when I was making 14 dollars an hour. I had to buy about 30 minutes out of town though. Not in a subdivision. 11 years later I'm ready to sell and town has come to me with all of the infill.

I have saved a TON of money being single. A man earning half of what a woman earns will still end up winning the race in life because if you save and invest your money properly, the power of compounding will come into effect big time. Just read John DeMartini's book "How to make one hell of a profit and still get to heaven". I followed that book religiously (no pun intended!) and in 10 years, I have paid off my house, have a ton of savings and have all my free time to build my business. (I quit my job in 2019 because of that book's life changing impact on my finances).
