People need to learn what discrimination is. Discrimination is when you are dismissed due to something that has no relevance to job. If she was applying for an accountant job and they dismissed her because she's fat, then that's discrimination. If it's a position that requires a more petite figure (like a Hooters girl, or further a stripper or something of that nature), then obviously figure is actually relevant to the job, and being dismissed for being fat is not discrimination.

This is like saying a modeling agency discriminated against you for being ugly. BUT I CAN DO THE JOB!

She probably couldn't handle a full shift of running her ass off waiting tables. I've worked in a restuaraunt. You're constantly warm because you're always moving. She'd be covered in sweat and complaining that her thighs are rubbing themselves raw. Guaranteed :)

If the roles were reversed and there was a restaurant where waiters would walk around shirtless with 6-pack abs, i wouldn't scream discrimination when they wouldn't hire me and my beer gut. What the fuck.

I wouldn't even apply because right away i would know that i don't fucking belong there. What is it with women who feel they belong everywhere and there's no limitations whatsoever for them?

Ah. The spokesperson was briefed in what to say. You say entertaining is part of the job, and the entertainment is based on certain assets. It's the same reason I can't go play quarterback for the Cowboys or demand I be cast in the next blockbuster movie. It's a necessary loophole.

She fully acknowledges they have a certain brand image and also she sees she does not fit it. Why not just be OK with that? This is where they loose me. She is perfectly fine with souring their entire brand image they have tried to build just cuz she wants some shitty bar tender job. It's not like she wants to be their accountant or fucking business manager. She literally wants to be the mascot for the company, the reason people will buy drinks. unreal to me.

I am a fucking average looking dude with a beer gut. I would never, in a million fucking years, think I could be one of those male dancers at a female club or something else where my looks would be needed to bring in business. But there in lies the difference with men. I knew I had to use my mind and learn a skill to earn my living, not moan and complain I can't be a low level worker relying on my body to earn a wage.

Maybe this the next thing. Discrimination for being overweight. When forty percent of women are obese and two thirds are overweight or obese, hiring someone at a health weight already eliminates that much of th population.

Could you imagine seeing her trundle on over to your table taking wide heavy steps, spilling out of her uniform. They should have hired her and stuck her someplace REAL visible so she could understand from the peals of laughter why they don't hire people like her. I was going to make a comment about the Cultural Revolution, about how skilled labor such as doctors and tradesmen were replaced by Red Guards because they were more ideologically pure, and extend the analogy to places like Hooters and the Kilt.

But then I thought... This whole thing is completely disingenuous. She's not trying to get hired there, she's trying to either get her name on the internet or close the place down because it happens to meet with her disapproval. But she can't frame the narrative as 'feminist' because of the growing backlash. She has to present herself as some poor girl who's just trying to find a job.
