Also, don't get married and be enlisted, it just never works out unless you get yourself a safe girl, which might not even exist and if she did you definitely (and I, and most people on this forum) aren't capable of detecting who they are.

You need to go to the JAG office and talk to a lawyer, they can document everything to prove your case. They can also get you a POA for someone else to handle your affairs stateside. Unfortunately this happens way to often on deployments, sorry you have to go through this, stay safe brother.

When you get home act like you don't mind about the cheating, act like everything is fine, keep this act up until you give her the divorce papers. Don't so much as even give a hint that you are planning divorce make it itl come as a suprise last minute to her so its much harder for her to get her act together and giving you greater chance of keeping what you earnt.

make sure you hide some money somewhere where she or the government can't get it or know about it, or know that you've taken it out, since you were deployed you can use that as an exuse and say that it was a traumatic time (even if you were the IT guy and it wasn't) and that to cope you've blown the money on gambling (while instead actually putting it in cash or bitcoin somewhere) and act like you're poor and really gone off the rails and got nothing going for you she will see you as a waste and won't try squeeze as much out of you then, also the courts may also believe your story and lower the amount of alimony. Probably the most important thing to do is protect your finances so she can't clean you out for 50% now AND Alimony for god knows how long. Also remove her from the joint account just before you tell her you are divorcing, most women run to write a massive cheque for themselves first thing in a divorce.

Also see a lawyer ASAP, do not tell your wife you want to divorce, let her find out when you hand her the papers, do an initial consult with all the lawyers you can find in you area so they cannot represent your wife due to conflict of interest, make it a little bit harder for her. Don't tell her anything until you have chosen a lawyer and finalised everything with him, when you go out to see the lawyer pretend you're going gambling/drinking, pay cash if you can so she wont see it on bank statements if your account is shared it will help with your cover story about gambling and don't forget to down a beer before you get home so she smells it on your breath and it seems credible.

If you move out and live separately before any court proceedings have taken place, make absolute certain you take anything that is of importance to you especially pets, its much harder to get things back through the court if you leave them with her, if you take them she has to fight to get them off you, if she has them you have to fight to get them off her. Id move out the moment you hand her the papers to give her as little chance as possible to damage anything you own, for the most valuable stuff I'd sneak it out just before I hand her the papers so she can't injure/smash things in a fit. If you own the house I'd advise against moving out of it but I'd still give my valuables to a friend to safeguard.

A successful divorce is part making a good act, part getting lucky with a fair judge and part good representation.

Sorry to hear about your situation; can't imagine the feeling of betrayal. I couldn't help with information on retaining your possessions as I've never been married, but at the very least consider even that cutting losses in light of no children. One can always replace possessions; lost children poisoned against their father are something else entirely, and in that regard you've come out ahead. As ahead as one can be, that is.

I can't help you legally but I can advise you mentally.

First off, read The Manipulated Man pdf that's easy to find online. Make sure you read it all. It'll make you sick but it'll settle your mind.

If you find yourself feeling depressed or nihilistic I recommend that you read a bit of Camus. His philosophy of life being positively meaningless helped me get through a rough patch.

She's probably already got your shit in boxes in the garage and has liquidated everything of value. By the time you found out about it it's too late most likely. To have a chance at combating that you'll need someone with power of attorney back home to take possession of all your stuff and (possibly) shut down your joint bank account, etc. You might need to check with a JAG rep and see what they can do, and make sure you take that bitch off your life insurance and other stuff asap.

The stuff is just stuff. In the long run it's easy to replace so don't get fucked up over it. Just make a clean break as best you can and get her toxic bullshit out of your life.
