In my very uneducated opinion, not sure if it has already been stated, it seems to me that it may be because women are naturally seen as victims, much in the same way a response would go about abuse. Women claim rape or abuse and they get sympathy automatically, but a man does it and they are laughed out the door, ridiculed, etc.. So when a woman says she'll never have another man, it easy for people to believe it's the man's fault, never really questioning the woman - even though some may want to, therefore showing sympathy. Some woman say it strictly for the sympathy, they like the attention.

I've sworn off women and yet my male friends and female friends alike not only do not believe, but blame me entirely for each relationship saying that I am too picky, Im throwing away perfectly good women, ad nauseam. They continue to send women my way. My male friends are almost worse b/c they want to live through me so much so they are constantly trying to get me laid just to hear the details. I went off on a tangent a bit but you get the point.

One of many double standards. The frustrating thing is not that they exist, as their existance is a product of the natural order. What irks me is only that they are hidden and denied. It is the hypocrsiy that is maddening and selective application of the rules and standards which turns a noble idea, but, dangerous undefinable ideal (equality) into a farce, where by one team, plays by one set of rules and the other team is free from those constraints.

There are many women that are still "hot" and attractive when they hit their forties. Plenty of men will go for the "mature MILFs", but the issue here, as a user has just stated here before me, is that older women carry the same mentality as when they were twenty. They will barely comprise on their standards as they compete with other women, especially younger ones in their twenties and thirties. Many would be lucky to snag a man around their age but when a "better" option comes their way, they'll toss him to the side which is typical of women. Another problem for older women is that a lot of men, younger and older, would want to use them for sex, which is fine since women have been using men for their utility for millennia.

Of course, the difference is you being able to opt-out of the game and someone else changing the playing field around you. Accepting changes (that you do not like) made by other people by using the exact same option that you also have is hard; it requires reflection and a conscious dispute.
