This explains why we have dozens of warships from most European countries picking up thousands of refugees every week 5 miles off the coast of Africa and then transporting them hundreds of miles and dumping them in europe at taxpayers expense. There is no logic to this policy but then when when women run things there never is logic.

FYI Folks, this is "official government policy":
http://www.government.se/government-policy/a-feminist-government/
A Feminist Government Sweden has the first feminist government in the world. This means that gender equality is central to the Government’s priorities – in decision-making and resource allocation. A feminist government ensures that a gender equality perspective is brought into policy-making on a broad front, both nationally and internationally. Women and men must have the same power to shape society and their own lives. This is a human right and a matter of democracy and justice. Gender equality is also part of the solution to society’s challenges and a matter of course in a modern welfare state – for justice and economic development. The Government’s most important tool for implementing feminist policy is gender mainstreaming, of which gender-responsive budgeting is an important component.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Nope. GDP per capita is 53k per US citizen and 43k per citizen of the vaunted German economy.

Fair enough. It's just Norway, Ireland and Switzerland. But the claim is still moronic. The US pouring trillions into war in Afghanistan, Iraq (x2), Vietnam and Korea did not supplement capital that these countries otherwise would have spent.

Don't forget that "Europe" is not a big oasis, i.e. the apex fallacy :). Countries like Portugal or Greece are not that advanced. I think America differs a lot from place to place, so much that I am amazed the country is actually governable. The resources in Europe may be better distributed (though still far worse than e.g. Singapore), yet I don't draw many conclusions from that. As for politicians, Americans do sometimes have ludicrious candidates and seem to expect little experience of their leaders. Yet in Europe there is also a fair share of politicians who owe their posts to intrigue and the right contacts rather than any skill and have not worked a day in their life.

I mean more efficient because even at a similar GDP per capita their citizens are healthier, happier and have a higher overall quality of life. If those are measures of governmental success I don't know what is.

[–]poloppoyop0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
lack of diversity
Are you serious?
North americans and their "skin color diversity". I'm french: I can travel 500 miles south and be in Spain which is not at all the same culture. Or 500 miles north and be in the UK: another different culture. Or let's go 500 miles east and meet the Germans. Even in our own territory: Corsicans are different from Basque people which are not at all like Breton. And I'm not even speaking about the french population from Reunion or the Antilles.
Most of our countries are the result of grouping of smaller fiefdoms with different cultures. We've had stupid wars for at least two thousand years on the current territory of Europe mostly because "the guys living next door to me are not like me".
And about enriching the culture: during the Middle Age, the Arab already tried something and got to the middle of current France. Our ancestors made them go back to their home but you can visit Spain and the South of France and see how they influenced some of the architecture of the time.
[+][deleted] 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]poloppoyop0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes different cultures.
The UK and France don't share the same language, humour, love for nobility, food. For the obvious thing.
Don't tell a Basque they're the same thing as Bretons. And vice versa. Even their patois is not the same at all. There are fringe independancy movements in multiple regions of France and Spain.

Native Germans, native French, native Swedes, native Italians, English, will all be minorities in their own ancestral lands by the end of this century. Replaced by sub 90 IQ muslims. Not much more needs to be said. Europe is in decline now. The US, Canada will soon be as well.

[–]lemgtow4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think what many people fail to take note of is that nations come and go, it will continue to happen. Laws mean absolutely nothing and will be cast aside when convenient. Rome/Byzantine existed for close to 2000 years and it fell. The Earth is like a petri dish, different nations are like strains of bacteria competing for survival. In the most primal sense, the strongest/most powerful/most resourceful organism is the one that survives. Russia could completely invade all of Europe if it wanted to.

That "lower quality of life" country would bend the entirety of Europe over a table and do her until she was raw, take everything she had, and would make her thank them for the experience.
Welfare programs are not a measure of success in the real world, especially ones free to flourish in a protective bubble...Europe, along with most of the US allies, lives a sheltered existence protected by the influence of the US military power. when the US eventually falls to the wayside and your dealing with China, or Russia, or some other unforeseen major power that is less concerned with paid maternity leave than power, that will be an ugly awakening.

The success and riches has nothing to do with a so called 'progressive ideology' or feminism. We've arguably been the richest collection of countries since at least the 16th century. We are however seeing social divisions on a scale not seen for some decades and when we Europeans become divided it usually doesn't end well for anyone.
[–]Siiimo-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Success in that the citizens who live there are the happiest, with the highest quality of life in the world. North Korea has a massive standing army. Perhaps you should go visit if you think that makes it a success.
BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T PREVIOUSLY FILLED WITH BLACK AFRICAN UNSKILLED RAPIST IMMIGRANTS! And they were primarily white and civilized. What part of past tense and future tense are you having trouble understanding? The U.S. is not as happy because it hasn't been all white and civilized for the last century. like i said, they have no meaningful standing armies making the term meaningless...
they aren't "successful" at possessing substantial military forces, but they DO benefit from us military protection.

[–]Siiimo1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link
So you define a country's "success" by the nature if it's standing army?
[–]soullessgeth1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link
i'm talking about the relevance or irrelevance of their defense department...in this case, their real defense is run by the us, making the position meaningless.
[–]Siiimo1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

i have no idea what argument you are trying to make at this point...all i'm saying is that these european defense positions are basically figureheads because the us runs the whole show...making their contribution to the "success" of europe irrelevant.
you might as well cut them all from the picture and just put another picture of the us defense department head there and write "effective head of european ministry of defense"

Our MoD is actually pretty based.
He's a Sikh. Closest thing to Jedi on Earth and they Hate Muslims.
Hes a veteran, having served in combat operations in Afghanistan.
And most recently he got Canada out of a bind with the purchase of F35s to upgrade our fighter fleet. Instead of having us buy those broken down money pits, we've instead purchased more older but reliable superhornets which we already have the parts and tooling for.
[–]mgtow4ever3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Actually we didn't purchase CF-18 as they are not made. We are going to purchase the Superhornet which share nothing in common with our current CF18 Fleet. This is another Liberal failure of procurement.. They are fucking famous for it. First it was the Helicopter disaster then shit leaky brit submarines now this. Liberals are fucking idiots when it comes to the military.
[–]Coluphid1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thank you for the correction, Superhornets.
However, you have to admit even these are better than the moneyholes that are the F-35s.
[–]mgtow4ever6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The F35 major teething problems have been solved. I believe they are far batter alternative then the 15 year old design that will be obsolete by 2025. Its a stop gap its just going to be expensive one. The superhornet is almost as much as a F35 fly away cost. So essentially Canada will be stuck with two planes in the fleet that will need to have more maintenance costs rather then a single one. Billions of Canadian Tax payers money have gone into the development of this plane. I doubt we will have an open competition for replacements. From an Economic perspective we should have went with the F35. This stop gap solution is idiotic and it will cost us Billions more longer down the road but hey Liberals will grow our economy from the heart.
[–]OutWithTheNew0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think most of the lifespan limits set on military aircraft are useless nowadays. The US, obviously more budget etc, but none the less, has stated the A-10s will fly indefinitely and they are upgrading old C5s with modern equipment. I just don't think modern warfare is progressing as fast as the defense contractors would like us to think.
Considering most of our allies have signed on to the F35 and we've probably already spent more money than anyone will ever know on the program, I can't wrap my head around why we would agree to a stop-gap measure. If you're going to do it, do it right and only do it once.
The only thing I can say with certainty is that as a nation, and perhaps reflective of the Liberal's policies, we can't seem to keep our soldiers in anything resembling modern equipment.

This is why the Trump threat to NATO will work fantastically (HEAR ME OUT). It will finally give European countries a sense of their own duty to defend their country, we will sell a shit-ton more arms to THEM instead of our enemies (Saudi Arabia), and through contract in acquiring those arms they are indebted to our allegiance as we are to them in order to protect our customer and IP of our products. When people say Trump is a 4D Chess-playing dealmaker, its for reasons like this.

pussy European countries a sense of their own duty to defend their country
Not the best words to be throwing around about your allies. Remember, we've been getting involved in Middle Eastern wars for the past 30 years because America drags us into it.
Allies? The United States defining the borders and security of our world for the last century is really, just a 'product' that was for sale and bought. By countries that now owe us allegiance. How was an isolated sovereign nation like Australia drawn into a war theater in the middle-east? You will have protection, if you buy our shit. Why do you think so many governments jumped on the Lockheed F-35 fantasy? Bureaucrats knew it was a ridiculously-expensive waste but it was cheaper than confronting the fact that their country had pitiful defence that relied on the virtue of US Military if 'shit actually hit the fan'. Buying 'an F-35' gave them the ticket that relieved their woes. Teasing a fear of vulnerability in our allies will recondition their ideation towards their true national defence. It will entice global demand for our military industries, greater production, cheaper and more efficient products, benefitting both us and them.

I will give one thing to Prime Minister Potato Head. He did appoint some one remotely qualified for this position. http://pm.gc.ca/eng/minister/honourable-harjit-singh-sajjan The rest of Potato Head choices are well.. Shit.

You can put anyone in charge when you don't have an army.

You consider for Funding for the Military useless? You can have a Jesus as the supreme commander but if your forces have sticks for guns which you are forced to Say Bang Bang it will not matter.

The irony is that these small countries are going to be the ones that trigger a large war...
Stop patronizing us with your logic, shitlord! /s

Most if not all of those top countries have been defeated in war in the last 100 years. The bottom 3 have not in all of history as far as I know.

Crazy late, but i had to comment anyway because i'm so confused... What is the point of this post? Russia, China, and the US all perform way worse to the top countries when translating "money-spent vs goals achieved". I don't know much about China, but the US and Russia are both making (to my petty knowledge) TERRIBLE choices regarding the war in the middle east, and both are blaming each other for their failures... At what point is this a good thing, and what the other countries do a bad thing?? (Seriously, i'm not trolling, i just don't get this post??)
