My wife told my daughter (15) if she really didn’t like a boy she could make up a false allegation and easily ruin the boy’s life.

I’m at a loss of words right now.

So my wife and I have a 15 year old daughter. She was always a beautiful child and she’s turning into a beautiful young woman.

And my daughter has benefited socially from this as well. From kindergarten onward a lot of kids wanted to be around her. My wife was a popular mom in the neighborhood because kids wanted to come over. In the eighth grade, my daughter liked a boy and my wife told her to ask the boy out and the boy eagerly said yes and she’s started asking boys out instead of them asking her.

Now she’s in high school. She’s the president of a few clubs. However for the business club she’s a part of she’s made an enemy of a boy because she asked him out when he told her he had a girlfriend.

He was very offended by stuff she said about his girlfriend. Their club is building an app plan together. The app itself was my daughter’s idea but the boy in question was pretty vocal about an alternative idea on how to market it.

The club usually voted when there was arguments and my daughter ended up being outvoted 8 to 3. She came home crying and seething.

She said this was obviously “ revenge” from the boy even though I also didn’t think her marketing plan from what she told me really made sense.

My wife comforted her but then she said something. She said “ If you don’t like a boy- you can literally bring up one false allegation and he is DONE.”

I got mad at my wife and asked why she would ever say that. She backtracked and said she wasn’t telling my daughter to actually DO IT. She said she was just stating a fact about life. And my daughter interjected by saying the boy was acting like a pompous dick and it’s not like the world would do worse without him.

After talking to my daughter she agreed not to make any false allegation but then asked how long she was supposed to tolerate him undermining her business plan. And then said something about his “ ugly, dumpy girlfriend” pulling his strings.

What do I do? The only other time I’ve heard that level of toxicity from my wife was when she said something along the lines of obviously people believe sexual assault allegations more when the victim is pretty. I let it go because I didn’t think my daughter was paying attention to what she was saying.
