It’s true. A lot of people pushed back entering adulthood by staying in school. The proverbial kicking the can down the road. “Oh, my Bachelor of Arts in Knitting won’t get me a job...well I’ll just stay in for my masters. Double down on that!”

Enter over “educated” women who couldn’t adult their way out of a wet paper bag and expect someone else to take care of them. Except you’re 35 now but think your SMV is offset with your edumacation. Lol. Not how that works.

An ex used to say to me she'd marry me if I got a degree.

I had no interest in marrying her, or anyone, and left college with no plans for Uni but she used to say that she was "working" on me and I'd get my degree and we'd then move into together and get married a couple of years after that.

Once she got her degree she thought she was better than me. We broke up not long after (thank god).

I've worked in a few different Financial Services jobs since we split up and I left the supermarket where we worked together. She stayed with the supermarket and is now a manager of another shop.

The degree that made her feel superior to me: Childhood Studies.

While I agree with the general idea here, I can't relate.

It might be because of where I live, but I've literally never met anyone who has the sort of useless degrees (like gender or childhood studies or whatever). Are these so common in the west?

I'm a self taught Senior Software Developer, I never went to university; thus, I have 0.00 debt.

Several times i've met unemployed females who had a PhD. One was in History... she acted like the sun shined out of her arse and would look down on others for not being as "educated" as her. Yet, she was unemployed and massively in debt.

On this point or at least adjacent to it-- i've noticed how women bring up their education and belongings when trying to explain why they're desirable and it now makes me angry. Men don't care about that shit, we know that. But it shows something else; women refuse to see anything from the male perspective. They look for those things when looking for a man but they also try to make it so we also look for those things because they think that those are the things we should be looking for. So they sidestep what we actually want and basically gaslight us by only really advertising their standards to us and applying it to themselves. It's abhorrent.

It was especially irritating back when i was trying out online dating-- girls' profiles were typically one of two things. Either a list of demands rife with condescending attitude, or a description of themselves devoid of any information that would inform on their viability in a loving romantic relationship. They see the world through their female lens and absolutely refuse to entertain the world being seen any other way.

Ah, the great PhD lie. They you get into college and learn that yes, a PhD is impressive, but it also means that the person is super smart in one extremely specific area. For example, a PhD in animal studies looks great on paper, but really they may only know about penguin flight attempts from 1980-2000.
