I'm also like that, in some periods of time I have taken it to the extreme and become a shut in, once I think I spent 2 months without the need to speak a single word.

I think that once you realize that your life improves a lot and is more calm and simple without pandering to women, other people / situations follow.

I find that having more people in your life = more drama, family or not. In the future, I plan on getting a dog and he'll be the only being I'll gladly socialize with. Otherwise, I tend to do things alone 99% of the time and loving every minute of it. Sometimes I feel lonely, but then I watch "Public Freakout Video Compilations" on Youtube and then I come to my senses. Socializing is overrated and the only reason it's pushed on most people is because women and extroverted men see it as something to be valued. Introverted men such as myself hate it. Put me in solitary confinement with internet and food, and I'll be in paradise.

I've gone lone wolf from all the drama.. I can't be bothered anymore with it.. some good friends I've chosen to ghost.. but I still socialize.. but with like minded people. And I'm no longer afraid as coming across as careless . Before I used to worry wether I looked and felt accepted by the others lol

Most masculine men develop this trait as they age. You just start giving up hope that people are worth a shit (which a vast majority arnt). It's a important transition in life imo. It's when you transition from young man to a Man. You become more self reliant because you know you can't depend on others, you also stop taking their shit so much as you realize being someone's emotional punching bag wont make them like you more or visa versa. Ultimately it's one of the greatest realizations for men in life. Knowing the world could care less if you died and were forgotten. Only women, children and animals are afforded the luxury of being cared about without being exploited. As you become a man you realize youd rather just not deal with the bullshit anymore rather than live a life as a slave for others. Feminine men choose to be exploited because they feel like they NEED to be cared about by others. Unfortunately for them it's all a farce, but they will rather die before they give up their lie.

I've always been a "my way or the highway" kind of person when it comes to my life, and I've become much happier now that I've taken a step back from men and women alike.

People are always trying to control you and use you to their advantage. Unless you're some kind of social genius who can manipulate anybody or a woman, the only winning move is not to play.

I think it depends on your personality. For me, I've got about four close friends or relatives, then maybe fifteen other people (friends, relatives, work, etc.) who are not as close but whom I know and talk with from time to time. Beyond that, my social group becomes pretty empty.

In my view, I'd rather have a few people whom I have really strong friendships with than tons of people that I have to try to keep updated with. Outside of my work, I like to have an open, flexible schedule, so I can use my free time however I want to, whether getting household work done, relaxing, reading, lots of peace and quiet, and so on. The last thing I want is to have to be going somewhere or meeting with people every single non-work day. That's okay for people who enjoy that, but that isn't my personality.

Sometimes I feel lonely and then experiment by joining a group: only for the group to shoot down my ideas and then boss me around. I don't like it when other people decide conversation topics (that I have no interest in) or even telling me what I have to eat for supper (screw that).

I always end up going back to being a Lone Wolf.

I deliberately socialise twice a month so I can practice my social skills just to prevent their atrophy. I'm a Lone Wolf most of the time. Having custody of my daughter gets in the way of that some. But she's almost to the age to go to college so I will more of my time back. I also check on my folks. But when have free time I do my own thing. No need for people to be around me. Work on one of my projects, play some Fallout on the PC, or read. Nothing better that reading a good Sci-fi book while drinking some Sprite and vodka.

I've always been a lone wolf I just relish it more now that i'm older. I didn't have very developed social skills when I was younger, now that I've had my fair share of parties, dates, and good nights out I value those quiet moments more.

I actually relish spending time with other men ( friends, family, whomever) more now but most of the time women make things more complicated or unlike the casual " let's bullshit" attitude men have with one another for women often times outings become attention grabs , if they aren't getting attention then the event can take a backseat to their need for attention.

I like being around groups of people, but I usually go out by myself (gym, bar, wherever). My two or three good friends are married and not in the area, but we have a text conversation that has been going on for years.

I've always been more of a loner than not. Being home schooled in the country kind of engrains that in you.

I've started straying away from places I use to frequent, so, yeah, sure.. I think I'm becoming that trope "lone wolf" and for good reason I should add. Friends, acquaintances, etc. honestly, it's easier to go alone. That's obviously just me and not just "preaching to the choir" or some other nonsense. It all came down to my experiences, which were mostly negative, with both men and women, but mostly women, therefore, going solo and somewhat hermit-like feels more beneficial then being dependent on some group of people to validate my existence.

You’re not alone at all. Society is getting worse by the day. People are deliberately being brainwashed to be rude simpleton assholes. I don’t think any sane person wants to deal with a person like this.

There still are a lot of decent people out there, but I feel like most of the decent people are isolating themselves a lot.

Therefore, all we’re left seeing (when we go out) is the majority of selfish simpleton assholes — that are oblivious to anything outside the two-foot bubble around their heads.

I also have to add that this very much is a societal problem. Meaning, women AND men are like this.

It’s to the point where I’ve stopped taking on clients that I sense have a shitty/rude attitude. They’re not worth the headache.

I’ve always been a lone wolf, however. Groups (and their rules and ways of dictating how you’re going to do things) just never appealed to me.

I do things my way, and if I can’t, then I’d rather be dead.

Age 51 and total lone wolf. I'm going on vacation Saturday for a week, by myself. Love it. I keep to keep my on schedule and d what I want to do without clearing it with anyone. I dine alone routinely and don;t feel the slightest bit odd about it. What do people think? Don't know. Don't care.

If you're well educated I think this just makes it worse. i've always been a bit of a lone wolf. i like to socialize but even when i was 18, the idea of getting black out drunk and talking about stupid drunk feelings with drunk people turned me off. as did huge crowds (oh the stupidity).

but we are social creatures. i do like to socialize. i can talk alot and when i haven't seen my bros or my family in a long time i can go on for hours. but besides that, don't really need it. found in my last few LTR, i kept wishing i was alone. and those were with women i could get along with.

sometimes i feel weird, because i'm getting old and the old weird looking loner guy always eating alone can feel anti social but hell, everywhere else i look, all i see is sad married men and women stressing over Chad and their 3 kids by 2 different fathers.

i always think of that quote from Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McCaughaheys character says something like, "i only got one life, i want it to mean something".

the only reason i want to socialize is from some evolutionary instinct. same reason i want to have kids, but is passing on my genes going to help my life, or hurt it. i know its greedy but i want my life to be MINE. and ONLY mine. in my experience few people, even those close to you will really be there for you or put their ego aside long enough to develop positive relationships.

only good relationships you can have are when you are young and pure and not jaded, as you become an adult you see how ugly people become to survive and gain.

Yep. Always been a loner to varying degrees throughout my life. My business ensures that I keep interactive with people, but my tolerance for chit chat is very, very low. Once in a while somebody tries to be my friend, like a recent business associate who kept bugging me to go out for drinks with him, but meh, can't be bothered. And yeah, the older I get the less I care about people (unless they pay me to care about them, heh heh).

Yes I'm definitely like that and when I was younger, it was more exciting and fun to meet new people and hang out with them. It can still be worthwhile, but it's also a lot of work and I have other priorities and interests. And of course you save yourself a lot of drama, in some cases, as you point out.
