I hate shopping. I dont buy anything till the old one is unusable. I'm miserable when I have to shop.

Whenever my mom or grandma decides to drag me with them when shopping. I just tell them I'm going to another store nearby and just call me when they're done. Or I just wait in the car.

But it doesn't mean it's okay to drag me or anyone when you go shopping.

I took my son shopping for clothes for school, 5 or so men at the front of the store and another half-dozen I spotted in the store being beasts of burden, and I pointed it out to him that to never be this guy, while those guys are sitting there. I said if she can shop, she can carry. These guys are sitting up front while some woman spends their money and for some reason they have to be baby-sat by store security.

One guy looked pissed that I was using him as a teaching lesson for my son.

Stopped off at a grocery store this evening on the way home from work. Older couple in front of me (mid-60's?) as I approach checkout. The woman sets up in front of the register while the guy helps bag the groceries.

Midway through ringing up their items the woman remembers that she's got a fist full of coupons in her purse. I look at the guy and his head goes down. After all of her coupons get rung up, she then remembers that she has reusable bags with her, rather than using the plastic bags that currently hold her groceries. The husband intervenes at this point to say they are fine using the plastic bags. Once she paid the bill, she then remembers that she needs stamps. Again I look at the guy and he's obviously embarrassed as hell, while the woman is oblivious to the delay she is causing to all of us behind her.

In the scheme of things, no big deal. But just death by a thousand cuts for that poor bastard of a husband.

It's kinda pathetic that department stores don't have something for men in this situation. Give'm some magazines and shit, refreshments, a TV. You don't want them to hate the place and want to leave ASAP.
