I have been getting into ETF's recently as well. It seems like a relative low risk investments with reasonable profit returns. The spreading makes it a lot safer. When f.e. the facebook hype is done, that stock crashing down won't affect the whole portfolio that much. From what I understand you won't make huge "wonderprofits" like with the memestocks or crytpo on the other side.

But I like that: I want relative safe investments with reasonable passive income abilities. So ETF's are high on my list of things which interest me in that regard. ( I mean this in general, not the S&P500 specific).

I like to risk it. High risk high reward. But to each their own.

Reason is that the stock market is due to a major correction. All these companies aren’t worth the price they are at but because of the pandemic a lot of people invested and the stocks are high. Everything from Tesla to Facebook to AMC and GME. It’ll all come crashing down soon. It’s all in a bubble including cryptos.

But I do have money in crypto and the meme stocks because I put it early when they weren’t meme stocks.

But to each their own. I’m just a dumb ape

It always depends on how much time you want to invest. If you don't really care about constantly assess the financial markets. A wide spread ETF long term (15+ Years) is a good way to go. Buffet says so himself.

Going with the SP500 is only focused on the USA though. There are other options like the popular MSCI World which is still very US focused.

If you want to go into stock picking I'd recommend you to read some books and use other sources to educate yourself. Don't buy some online course though, thats just wasted money.

Stocks are massively overpriced right now. P/E 15-35x. At the moment I'm sitting on cash and slowly moving into Bitcoin.

Go total market so you then don't have to worry about performance issues when a company makes/leaves the 500 index. My portfolio is primarily VTI (Total US Stock index) and VXUS (International Total Stock). I have a few more funds based on what is offered in my 401(k) and 529 plans, but in those cases I am building back to the total market (e.g. 80% 500 Index plus 10% midcap index and 10% small cap index).

S&P 500 is a great investment avenue. Do not expect 2020 results whatsoever but it will go up as the year progresses.

Seems fine. If you use Robinhood like I do, then you can buy shares of SPY (a common S&P ETF) and others like it.

Though I tend to use Robinhood for trading rather than "set it and forget it" investments - should work either way.
