So when someone is "shaming" you, remember there is an ulterior motive underneath it all to get you back in line into doing what benefits society as a whole, and not you.

When your parents shamed you for not doing your bed, it was not to your benefit, it was so that when their friends would come over, they could show off to their friends about how disciplined their kids are, and they could stroke their ego in front of their friends about how good of parents they are.
