Sex, and real life gaming generally speaking, can almost be perfectly duplicated by stimulating the correct neurotransmitters in the human brain. Think about this, all five of your senses are simply brain constructs. You take in information through your senses (accessories) and your brain constructs that into a physical feeling, taste and smell, and visual reality. Now suppose you were to bypass those physical accessories of your body and feed that information to the brain directly. Think about the possibilities here. You could literally create a complete reality with all fives senses. You could duplicate sex or any gaming environment almost perfectly as if it were real life. This is still down the road in the future, but it is coming.

I'm not fond of the idea of a sexbot. Ultimately, I think it would make more sense to develop a Virtual Reality system. That way you could load different ~~programs~~ women on to it. But hey - that's just my thought.

I am doing research in robotics. I do work with some hardware (legged and flying robots) but most of my work is related to software/algorithms. The biggest issue will be the hardware and research costs. Universities are usually the first to bear this cost and prove the technology, after which companies step in and sort of take it past the last mile. I would not mind doing research in this area but would not get any funding. I'm hoping to develop general robots and someday start a business around robots when the technology is a bit cheaper. Ideally I would like a home-maker robot serving my needs, making coffee, etc.

Why does this nonsense keep getting bandied about? You're talking about constructing a realistic conversational AI, constructing a mechanoid with human-like movement capabilities, and sheathing it in something realistic enough to feel like human flesh. At the moment it's just a stupid mental masturbation revenge fantasy. Get back to me in 50 years and we'll talk.
