I've never been a follower of the stoic philosophy. There are times when it can be useful (there are some things that are not in your control so there is no point in getting upset about it) but in the face of disrespect or any kind of shitty behavior people throw your way, anger and showing your emotions is perfectly acceptable. My supervisor at work is an absolute goof of the highest order and I get into it with him all of the time and I have zero regrets about doing so. I can tolerate most things in life but I have absolutely no tolerance for assholes.

An old work place acquaintence of mine once said to me: I think you have a serious anger problem and you need help. I laughed at him and said: You think I go home and kick my cat and start punching walls? I don't have an anger problem. I have a shitty people problem. When I'm at home or at a friends place I don't get upset at all. It's only when I'm here that I get pissed off.
