If they had skipped the racial part of their protest, and instead just gone for "We Need To Do Something About Police Brutality", pretty much everyone would have agreed. There is no controversy in that. There's no outrage to be had at half the population disagreeing with you.

No one is going to say stand up and say "No, we actually need more police brutality".

But controversy is what makes the news, what grabs people's attention, and what spreads through social media like wildfire.

That is just one of the many probably reasons why they chose to amplify this particular murder.

The more the right tries to dig deeper and investigate and uncover the facts and the truth, the more it agitates the left, because they don't see it as others in pursuit of the truth. They see it as "Why are you trying to prove that it's okay for cops to kill unarmed black people?"

You're saying this but you still haven't cited your source. I shouldn't have to look it up. You should show us WHERE YOU GOT THIS DATA. That's the responsible thing to do. Don't throw arbitrary info into the public space without confirmation.

The reason the number seems so low is because of the differences in population for black americans and white americans.

If your information is correct, 172 white americans are killed by a police each year, while 88 black americans are killed each year as well.

The problem is, black americans are only 12.6 of the U.S population, while white americans are 72.4.

There are 5.746 times more white americans than black americans in the U.S. if you multiply the number of black americans by that number, you also have to multiply the number of deaths by that number.

After multiplying 88 by 5.746, the average amount of deaths each year for black americans would be 505 a year instead of 88. This puts into perspective how many more black people are killed on average in the United States.
