I had a 93’ civic which I got in 98 with 125k miles. I did maintenance, breaks,oil changes and timing belt myself, rotated tires all in my drive way. Harder stuff I had a mechanic but it was not too expensive if I bought the parts. I manage to run it till 983k miles.
Till my ex finance of 3 years wrecked. Sadly she survived but the car did not if not it would easily go over the odometer and back to 0.

One mixed blessing is that a “Tyrone” was in the passenger seat and was too fucked up to walk away.

So going to the hospital to see her and the police report I see Tyrone laid in another room.

That day I lost my beloved car but gained freedom from seeing she is a cheating whore.

If you mgtow wtf you care you drive? Who the fuck are you impressing?

Does it get from point A to Point B? Does it work or can you fix it or get fixed by a mechanic?

I think you'd be hard pressed to get 6 grand out of that car. I get it, it's a Honda, barely broken in, lots of life left and all that; but finding someone willing to actually hand you 60 hundred dollar bills for a 12 year old car with closer to two hundred than one hundred thousand miles is another matter entirely. Maybe I'm out of touch with the market, but I certainly would not.

Somewhere along the way, you should have started saving for the next car so you could pay cash for it, if that was the plan you wanted to go with. You could do the same thing starting now.

Whichever direction you decide to go, you jump off the train before it hits the wall; so when you're spending as much or more keeping a vehicle alive than you would on a new car, you've hit the wall. You have to factor in your time, aggravation, lost productivity etc into this. Personally, I think once you're over halfway into the cost of a new car, it's time to start thinking about an exit strategy, but that's me.

I would keep it until you're faced with a repair bill beyond the value of the vehicle then just buy a new car with the cash that you've saved until then.

Hey, my cousin was driving a 2007 CRV and it was recalled by Honda due to faulty weld joints in the rear suspension. Honda paid him just under $7K Canadian just two weeks ago since it was not repairable. Check it out under any Honda recall website.

If you can live comfortably enough without a car, then definitely sell it. If you live close enough to walk to most of what you need, and just take a bus sometimes, then you can save a fortune not having to deal with maintenance, insurance, rising gas prices, and any surprise accidents with the car. I sold my car, because I really don’t need it, and I estimate it’s saved me about $300/month, but I live in an expensive area. Kill those student loans.

What might e the most efficient thing to do?

How much you need to drive per year?
If not alot of distace, then this car can still last plenty years and has a good aging-maintenance record.
If you need to drve alot of distace per year, Then I would change car, if I could afford to upgrade to a car with lower miles.

Keep it and drive it until the wheels fall off. Hondas are well known for their longevity and no sense adding an unneeded expense of a payment.

Here is my 2c. Some people might laugh at this. The CR-V is a versatile vehicle. Yours has a ton of life left in it. I would recommend turning it into something you will love even more.

Do you like camping? I'm 6'4" and I was very comfortable in my camper van converted CRV. Pull the passenger and rear seats, build a custom shelf with storage bins underneath to replace them, shape out some memory foam for a bed, build some storage bins and shelves for the drivers side, stick a 100w solar panel on the roof, put some velcro around the windows and make some blackout and solar curtains.

Want to do some basic off-roading? You aren't going to be able to rockcrawl moab, but they make lift kits, locking diffs, and you can stick some yuge tyres on there (https://www.rocky-road.com/honda-crv-lift-kit.html)

On the opposite side of the spectrum, you like to move fast? The K24 is a decent modding platform. Even with OEM parts you can build the shortblock out to K24Z3 specs, maybe even go beyond that. Lower it a bit, put some stiff struts on, black out the windows, and go smoke some highschoolers haha. This might not appeal to you but I have a shitload of fun in my riced and modded Eclipse GSX even if I fully recognize how retarded it is.

You might have different tastes or different ideas than I do, but modifying you car is a super fun time, a good hobby, and at the end of the day you are left with something you built and can be proud of.

I always drive vehicles to the grave. Start saving now for that new car. You still have another 200k miles left in that CRV with proper maintenance and sane driving habits. When it finally dies you should have enough saved to buy a solid certified pre-owned vehicle.

...you should be able to get 250k out of that CR-V. I have an Element...same engine and chassis. Concentrate on retiring that student loan debt and don't take on any more debt until you have. I'll drive mine until I push it over a cliff.
