My sister bought a old house in dire need of a complete renovation. Read: She got divorced, got a hefty payout for leaving and managed to get a mortgage despite not having a job. Anyway: I used to be an electrician and when she asked for my help I offered to wire up the place on the condition that she pulls all the cables and puts the boxes in the walls. I'm not go to spend my time drilling into stone walls. I have a full time job already. Today she called me and gave me a whole shopping list of sockets covers, light fixtures, etc...

I drive over there expecting to see shiny new boxes in the walls and like 50 cables dangling from the ceiling where the new electric panel is supposed to be installed. I'm thinking "wow, this reno is going great if they are already at this point."

There's one box in the wall and they pulled 2 cables. She just bought a new sofa, there's no floor in the living room, just sand... She wants me to order light fixtures when there is no ceiling yet. If the stuff she wanted was on discount, I could understand buying it all ahead and just storing it in a box. But this stuff was full price. I told her to buy it when she actually needs it. At this pace it will be months before she gets to the point of needing a light fixture or socket covers.

This is what you get when women are in charge of construction. They buy sofas without a floor to put it on....
