I managed to arrange a 5-person 'surprise' on a cheating girlfriend, but that was with the full knowledge and cooperation of everyone involved and one of the 5 was literally just hired muscle in case SHTF.

Yeah, this totally happened.
Goes out to get milk at 23:30 and doesn't come back until 2:00? Anywhere else the cops would've been called by midnight.
Insists he leaves town on her birthday? How transparent can you get.
Still, funny to read.
Even if he called the cops they don't take missing persons reports for adults that quickly, and she may have texted him an excuse.
Also, in my experience people who are habitually lying (be it about affairs, or drug use, or theft) tend to get more and more brazen until they're caught.
But I agree it sounds too amazing to be true.
