My [23F] Bf [26M] of 4 years rated me 6.5/10 but explains it as physical attraction shouldn't be the main reason to be together.

I guess the title pretty much sums it up. He dotes on me and constantly shows me in many ways that he loves me. he wants to marry me, we've looked at rings together even. Hes loyal and sweet but now I don't know if we should be together.

I'm not going to claim that I'm the most attractive person around by a long shot and if anything I'm usually really self conscious about it but to be fair I'm in decent shape. I have decent curves without being overweight. More importantly though I guess I hoped the person I'm with would see me as beautiful - not a 10/10 type thing but at least a 7.

Now I know rating each other out of 10 isn't nice and I only asked because I was drunk and were just fooling around. First he said I was a 10/10 but I told him to be honest rather than just saying what he thinks I'd like to hear. Thats when he said 6.5/10.

I didn't say anything in the moment since I had asked for it but as time has gone it started to bother me more. I asked why he was with me if he doesn't find me attractive and he said physical attraction shouldn't be the main reason for couples to be together. That he found me intelligent and funny, he thinks I'd make a good partner & mother based on how I interact with kids and my siblings, claims these were more important. Hes usually a logical person rather than emotional one too so I guess he thinks I was more logical to be with.

I feel quite shallow but I can't seem to let this go. I agree that looks shouldn't be the only reason to be together but you should still find your partner attractive?

Am I creating an unrealistic idea on the matter in my head or is this the end of this relationship ?

tl;dr: Bf doesnt find me physically attractive but thinks I have good qualities to be a partner, should this be enough or should you want that attraction ?
