The interesting thing is that women point to her as if she's the shining beacon of a strong woman. Then I point out that it's set in a fantasy universe and without her dragons she'd have absolutely nothing. She would have been a Khal's widow either dead or living the rest of her life with the other Khal's widows.

This is why everyone hated season 8... and why I loved it. It’s a social commentary that people can’t accept because they don’t like looking in the mirror. Dany became a feminist icon even tho they had steadily hinted at the decline of her mental state, people didn’t recognize that because they are in the same boat. In the future I hope this sort of commentary will become more common as people realize the feminist movement in its current state isn’t working. GRRM is truly ahead of his time.

When I started watching Game of Thones I noticed an association with the rise in feminism and Daenerys from GoT. I feel that as soon as women saw this one character begin doing these things listed in the post, women all across the world felt empowered to do the same. Kind of wished that Daenerys never existed after I came to realization, even though I was never a fan of her character.
