Interesting........ I'm going to assume that the "couple" in the post are millennials - which IF IM CORRECT - would be fascinating. Previous generations of women (Gen X, Boomers) were WAY more calculating. They would at least research and understand the laws in their states THEN proceed to blow up their marriages. Seems as if millennial women are THAT entitled to the point of DEMANDING what they want regardless of the law.

During my divorce we had some joint property that was a share in her family's business. My first proposal to her was she gets the family business interest free and clear and we split the rest 50/50. Since I was the major breadwinner and actually had money before the marriage, this was a great deal for her.

Of course, she turned it down and demanded more. Her face when I said fuck it I'll just assert my claim to the shares in the family business was priceless. I eventually gave her the business, but in exchange for other property so that what I ended up with was 70k more than my initial proposal.

TLDR- bitch got greedy, overplayed her hand, lost money.

Smaller scale, but during my divorce my ex tried to claim ownership of my deceased mom's silver set on the basis that my brother handed it to her when we got it from my mom's house.

I refused. Her attorney showed up at during the property transfer (I had the house, hence the property she was retreiving) and told me to hand it over. I told both that they were free to file a court motion to obtain it, but by the time that motion percolated to the top of the docket the best they could expect to receive if the motion went against me was a large lump of melted, tarnished silver in a burnt box.

Never heard another word about it.

While I was going through my divorce, I did a dna test and found out my son wasn't mine. After my lawyer got her to admit it in open court(and name the dad), they ended the child support payments I had to pay for him. When my lawyer asked that she be ordered to pay back the money she had received, the magistrate said "no, we're going to leave things the way they are". Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

My friend is about to retire from the military and his final child support payment was last year. His was the typical story of marrying young and he wanted to get out of the barracks and the delusion of steady sex from a faithful wife. Again the typical story of she cheated while he was deployed. They divorce and he gets out of the military, goes to college and comes back in as an Officer. Now that the child support payments ends and he is going to collect all of his retirement pension, she contacts him and mirrors OP's post: "even though I am not entitled to any of your retirement, you could AGREE to share a portion with me since we were married and have a child together and that should mean something!"
