I'm as disgusted by this behavior as any fellow man but I never understood why people are so surprised by this. Long distance relationships in which both parties can visit each other any weekend are already filled with rampant cheating, logically speaking it can only be worse when they can see each other even less often.

I feel sorry for these kids who are fresh out of college or high school, join the military, marry some bimbo they think will 'settle down' after marriage, get deployed and then return back to find out she's slept with a dozen guys while he was away. She has her house and security...five times out of ten she doesn't need you.
