The best and worst part about being jade older man ? my delusions about needing to rely on everyone else have been shattered.

Whether i was entitled women who I thought made my life complete or former mentor men who eventually backstabbed me once I stopped following their script it has become abundantly clear that if I don't look out for number one then no one else will .

Not saying I don't enjoy people but I live by a mantra that everyone is a piece of shit until proven otherwise and that has served me much better than hoping for the best out of every person I come across.

Hollywood is mostly to blame for pushing the concept of you need to rely on others. It is also pushed by the vast majority of female teachers on to young boys.

Does anybody know why female teachers go out of their way to indoctrinate young boys into thinking they must rely on others and not themselves??

Most people, regardless of gender, are self-serving, selfish, and lazy. It's human nature.

They're going to take the path of least resistance, 99% of the time. This means, when they fall into a rhythm, they're going to try and get by with the least amount of effort possible. Look around at the people you work with, especially those everybody knows kinda sucks at the job, but has been there long enough and does just enough to prevent getting fired. Eventually, they always get in trouble because they think they're being clever, but they're too stupid to realize that corporate is simply building a case to can their asses without getting sued.

Imagine your mindset to the game if it's an expectation that you should be coddled, taken care of, and spoiled rotten. You'd spend all of your effort finding that sweet spot where the gravy train doesn't run out, wouldn't you? Why try for 5 points, when you can score 2 and be considered 'awesome'?
