USMC Captain and war historian here. Nearly 400K women served with the US Armed Forces in WW2. I say with because they were not enlisted in any branch. They were relegated to support/service roles...not combat. Over the span of thee war 543 US women died in the conflict. Of that number...only 16 died to enemy fire arms. So not only would having female characters in CoD:WW2 be in insult to the warriors who fought and died during war, but it'd be historically inaccurate, because the US deliberately didn't put women on the frontlines because of public outcry against it.

Furthermore, the vast majority of my NCO colleagues agree that women have no place in frontline direct action. Even high ranking female NCOs. Women are incapable of being as effective in combat as men. Period. There's been studies done on the subject since it became a hot button issue, and the results are the same...women don't belong in infantry.

This isn't a direct attack on you but the exception is the rule mentality in this case.

See the problem with people posting exceptions like this is they ignore the whole picture.Yes she was a hell of a sniper, but combat effectiveness is not only how you perform in the field. It's how you perform afterwards. As harsh as it sounds someone can be the greatest soldier on the battlefield but if they can't integrate back afterwards they aren't a use to the military or society. You see this with the lack of any meaningful effort to curb veteran homelessness. Because as far as the leadership of the military is concerned they want personnel that can consistently perform at a level making them reliable, thus combat effective. Something women have not proven capable of(again talking combat arms).

Back to Pavlichenko, in Pavlichenko's case it was a prime example of what the weight of war can do to the mind. Frankly it's why Pavlichenko isn't quite the exception many think she is. PTSD is a real thing, and it affects an individual a whole hell of a lot more people than most would like to admit. And a lot more people would suffer from it as a result driving up the costs of tricare, and increasing the burden on the already shitty VA.

On top of this, those that want females in combat need to learn the (can't even imagine how much more fucking expensive it will get to vet for females suitable for infantry)vetting process the military undertakes just to get service members that are hopefully capable of not succumbing to the affects of garrison(yes people go crazy in garrison) let alone combat. Even in spite of all the training, and vetting PTSD is still a epidemic.

One of the greatest and most consistent examples of females not working in the military except in rare cases for a short time. Are any of the co-ed units, they almost always are a disaster they become highschool part 2 and less focus is put on people doing their jobs and more focus on drama. Now go to any combat arms unit with a hot, rather a perceived hot female around(see the 2-10-2 rule), men will fuck dudes wives/gfs when months earlier they were taking contact and survived war together. Or even during a deployment in some cases. See trust him with your life, not your wife mantra. It takes the focus away from the job, or training which hurts a units ability to fight, and fight well.

Than there's the issue of combat operations with females in integrated units. Take the now infamous case of marines getting sniped in Iraq and a squad of guys one after the other charging out into the open to retrieve the guy. It resulted in many more casualties than would of occurred if the squad dug in and attacked the sniper, or called for fire. Cases like that happen more than we think, and adding females to the equation ups the likelihood of tragedies like this occurring. Albeit on a much greater scale.

All in all its a disaster of epic proportions waiting to happen. And in most cases while guys in combat arms aren't opposed to the idea of the infantry unicorn that can do the functions of the job. They are unwilling to play the slots on the odds of actually getting that unicorn. Would you be honestly willing to trust your life in the hands of a guy in a wheel chair during combat. Probably not, and honestly as harsh as it is that's what you'd get with women in the infantry. And trying to force it is only going to increase the number of one and dones. Resulting in more shitty people staying in, again increasing the number of deaths due to poor leadership, poor training, and shit morale.
