Once a year, the city of Sparta would officially declare war on their slaves.

That way if a Spartan citizen killed a slave, accidentally or otherwise, it would be considered a death in combat and not murder.

The modern oppressing class seems to have created something similar with rape laws, so if a "citizen" (woman) has sex with a "slave" (man), the slave is automatically guilty of a crime, of which the citizen can never be accused of.

Even worse, the oppressors justify this by claiming oppression.
