I've been shooting firearms since I was six. At no time in my life (including when I was ten), did I ever think that shooting someone was an effective way to "punish" them. That's just insane. Even a ten-year-old kid has some degree of agency.

Her excuse is bullshit. If she really thought that shooting someone was no big deal, why did she shoot him in the leg, rather than the body? She knew damn well what she was doing and she shot him in the leg because she knew that shooting someone in the head or chest would almost certainly kill them. Yes, of course a gunshot wound to the right part of the leg could kill too, but think of it like a 10 year old. It's exactly what a 10 year old who has some understanding of right, wrong and death would do.

I don't know what it is about being shot that people take so personally. I used a wrist rocket type slingshot from a rooftop to ambush my neighbor when we were in middle school while he was mowing a lawn. He never really talked to me again.
