Today I had an experience that I just have to share with you guys (since you're the most rational, thick skinned people I've seen on this website).
Picture this, Lewis Hamilton driving a Porsche (a notoriously well handling car), on a highway.
Now say the speed limit on the highway is 60 miles per hour and our man was driving at 65 miles an hour, 5 miles an hour above the limit. And there was only one other car on the road, and that being three lanes to his right.
The question we should ask here is, is this illegal?
why yes it is, technically speaking, illegal to go even 0.1 miles above the limit.
But say when a reasonable person sees Lewis drive past, and knows it's him and knows the car and how stable it as that speed, do you think their first intention would be to call the cops?
Or do you think they'll just let it pass because they know there's not a snow ball's chance in hell of Lewis fucking Hamilton losing control and causing an accident, this guy regularly corners F1 cars at that speed.
The second option right?
Well, today I met a very unreasonable person and I wanted to get the meeting off my chest.
So today afternoon, my mum wanted to go to the gym, she wanted me to go along with her because she didn't wanna go alone (it just felt weird for her and she felt safer with me).
So I went along with her, got on the cycle and exercised while she walked on the treadmill.
Soon, the heroine of our story walks in.
This woman was short (4'7" probably), obese, African- arab descent, wearing the muslim full body covering with only her face exposed (she was wearing gloves on her hands).
I had finished cycling and was waiting for my mom to get done on the treadmill.
She walks up to me, and goes (*heavy Arabic accent), "umm excuse me men aren't supposed to be here after 2:00 PM" (it was 2:15 PM, and yes technically 2 - 5 PM was for women only, but remember, I was there with my mum)
I told her I was accompanying my mother, and that I would be gone as soon as my mum is done working out, which would take about 10 minutes. We were the only 3 people in the gym, aside from the lifeguard of our apartment pool chilling outside and listening to music.
She was having none of it and threatened to call security on me and said that her religion required her to be separate from men. (I wanted her to tell her to fuck off back home to Saudi Arabia but the adult in me didn't wanna let me do it).
I tried to reason with her (big fucking mistake I know), told her I was accompanying my mum because she just wanted some company, but this woman started banshee screaming at me out of nowhere.
In that moment, all I wanted to say was " listen here you absolute syphillic pustule, just because in one tiny instance someone made a tiny and insignificant thing that did not go right in the way of rigid rules, it doesn't give you power to push them and exert dominance over them. Maybe if once in your sad pathetic existence you realised that fighting for your wacky notion of social justice in this particular situation won't do anything to improve your, mine or any of our lives in even the tiniest possible way, and will in fact make it even worse, then maybe you wouldn't be such an epic cunt about it and let my mum exercise for 10 fucking minutes more."
But all that came out was,"you're being unreasonable" and "you act like you always follow all the rules without breaking any laws". That second statement made her silent.
My mum was visibly upset about the whole thing and decided to just fuck it and leave, I too decided to let it pass.
And after I went home, I let out my steam by meditating a bit and came to a conclusion about the whole thing.
I feel that these type of people usually have nothing remarkable or interesting about them in the slightest and the only thing they've got going on for them in terms of being able to exert power over lives is the ability to use systems of rules and regulations that already exist and bully people into following them 100 percent or threatening punishment.
In childhood, schoolyard snitches and kill joys fill this role.
In adulthood, little-miss-always right gets to bully some kid into making him follow rules such as this to a cartoonishly arbitrary extent.
In the divorce court, divorce lawyers go out of their way to make the soon to be ex husband's life miserable.
I did not even know there was a specific time for men and women at the gym, and I dont think I was acting unreasonable in the slightest when I told her that I was accompanying my mum and I'd go in 10 minutes when she was done.
And no I'm not at all intimidating, I'm an overweight 5'7" 20 year old sitting and minding his own business on the other side of the room.
Today I realised that there are some people that would go out of their fucking way to report Lewis for going 5 miles above the speed limit, despite knowing there's no danger, and despite knowing that they'd have to waste their own precious time for something so petty.
Some people man.
