You think retirement is a goal. For someone who works, their work provides something of an identity and purpose every day. Many many men slip into depression when they retire, due to the loss of identity and loss of sense of purpose. You have to make sure that you have hobbies or other projects. Just he careful what ypu wish for, not everything is as sweet as it sounds.

Yes I’m into fire. It can be taken to extremes. Save save save. Really depends what kinda life style you want, planning for emergencies. If you want to live on property in Wyoming in a travel trailer and eat rice and beans for the rest of your days it’s pretty easy to get there. I personally want to live beach front and drink gape cool aid in my hammock. Either way avoid debt, stop giving your money to Bank of America in the form of interest. Pay cash for your vehicle. Stop eating out. Screw Starbucks. And cut your cable, you got internet right? Be frugal as hell! I get my hands on a nickel and it’s a freaking prisoner!

Working myself towards FIRE now.

Digging out from the mess of debt I was left with after divorce.

Oddly enough even with 33,000 a year in child support I still come out with more money than I had in a relationship.

Currently at 150,000 net worth. Hoping to retire in 15 years.

Then I’m buying land in either Montana or Wyoming.

I actually did a speech on retirement and mentioned FIRE. Also mentioned having kids and a wife greatly hinders your retirement. She wasn’t happy about that lol.

All in all, I’m doing it once I get into my career.

Im working on FIRE, got 96k on a mortgage to payoff because all debt to me is evil. So im sinking every red cent into that mortgage. I want it gone in 36-48 months then i can throw a lot into retirement because my monthly expenses will only be about $900. Bills and food and fun included.

Not having dependents is a huge advantage in achieving financial independence.

There's a lot of advice out about double-income no-kids (DINK). Most of it applies just as well with good roommates, and can be extended to multiple roommates if you care to.

I'm borderline FIRE now. I still work, but mostly just saving up to move to Florida next year. I'll probably still work, but it'll just be part time.

Insurance is the only thing i really gotta worry about. Bit being just me, that's about 1/4th of the cost of a family plan

I think you'll find a lot of folks here who are pursuing FI.

The leanFI sub is also a very good resource, though the mainstream FI sub has a much more extensive wiki. Really all the advice applies if you're MGTOW once you discard anything that involves marriage/kids/etc.

Really the whole thing becomes much simpler.

I wouldn't mind a more MGTOW-FI forum someplace since there are some more specific topics. For example, inheritance planning is often a non-issue if you're MGTOW.

Really though the principles are the same and you just don't need to save nearly as much. Just avoid talking about RP on those forums because they are crazy-BP over there. And FWIW for those who can make it work I'm glad they're happy, but doing FI+marriage seems like a recipe for a divorce disaster.

One thing I would say is that I would be careful about some financial advice I tend to see in MGTOW circles. You tend to get a lot of bitcoin/doomer/collapse/etc types in MGTOW forums. There is nothing wrong with them being here, but their financial advice needs to be appreciated for what it is. If the whole world collapses their advice might actually not be so bad though I'd validate that with the survivalist types (bullets, food, and allies would probably would be more useful than bitcoin). However, if the USA is still a thing in 30 years a lot of that advice is probably sub-optimal. I can't tell you what the future holds, but I wouldn't be too quick to jump on the stocks-are-bad bandwagon. And I see a lot of advice on forums that is very risky - like put all your money in and so on. FI isn't about getting rich without working - it is about making your savings work for you while you earn your future lifestyle.

If we're talking purely semantics here,

FIRE is about using the system to your advantage by slaving away for a period of time then letting the cumulative results fall into a self perpetuating loop.

MGTOW is about recognizing that the system is so broken that the only option is to avoid the system.

Very much so. MgtowMoney channel on youtube helped me a bit. I'm pretty FIREd up already and i'm not even 34 yet. Well, FIRE to me doesn't mean do nothing, it means being free enough to do your own business and enjoy life. Couldn't have done it without going MGTOW tbh. Would have done it 3 years ago itself had I been a proper MGTOW, but oh well.
