All sorts of relationships are statistically likely to fail. And I take their failure very personally. It paralyses me for days/weeks or even months. It harms me academically, physically and mentally.

I recently tried engaging in an openly "casual sex buddy relationship" to feel better about myself. I had explicitly set out to not get attached but I did. Now we drifted apart and seeing that person is enough to ruin my night and mood.

Modern relationships are like a drug addiction. You seek the high of hooking up with a girl and "scoring" then you have the crash of it falling apart. It's too painful so you try to numb the pain with another high and the cycle goes on and on killing you slowly in the process.

I can't do this anymore. Loneliness is less painful for me than losing someone or seeing them move on from me. I might just opt for voluntary celibacy, at least until I'm on my feet financially and emotionally.

I welcome any thoughts!
