The reason marriage is more or less “forbidden” is because marriage is a contract between two parties and the state.

What is almost never mentioned is that the people are inferior parties to the state, who can impose its will on the parties with the sanctioned use of force. This is a sort of lock in which is ineffective given how society more or less treats everything, including other people, as disposable.

While it can go both ways, usually it’s the man who gets blindsided when he gets served divorce papers and gets effectively robbed and resource raped in divorce court by the hands of the state. That doesn’t consider the continued anguish of parental alienation in the worst cases, and long-running support orders in the best cases.

Terribly, all this division and plunder is promoted and celebrated by a degenerate entertainment industrial complex that needs to rely on increasing shock value in order to captivate its audience.

For me, a lot of the benefit of MGTOW is simply encountering other men with a like-minded mindset. Society tells us "men must get married and have children in order to be happy." I know for myself, as I went through my 20s, I just assumed I'd get married. I never questioned whether I really wanted to get married or not. Because I assumed I would, I almost fell into a horrible marriage with a woman whom I didn't love and wasn't a good partner. I was going to marry her and have a horrible marriage 'so I could be happy!'

Once I realised that there are a lot of unhappily married men and a lot of happily single men out there, I started to reconsider whether I really did need to get married. I decided in my 30s that I didn't need or want to. Yet I seemed to be the odd man out amongst everyone else, since the prevailing assumption is that men should and must want marriage. (Women face the same pressures, of course, especially with regards to having children.)

Then I found MGTOW, and it is was comforting to meet men who thought the same as myself.

That's not to say that there aren't happily married men. There are. Marriage is now a bad deal for men due to the legal ramifications. But sometimes bad deals pay off. If a man really feels he needs to get married and have children and so decides to take the risk, then that's fair enough. He's doing the right thing by him. His choice for him is as rational and common-sense as my choice for me.

Marriage isn't 'forbidden' in MGTOW per se, anymore than marriage is described as 'forbidden' in the definition of 'bachelor'. "No marriage/no cohabitation" is a rational and common-sense conclusion, based on red-pill knowledge, and taking into account one's own needs and hopes.

Yes. Marriage and mgtow are the opposite. You cannot be married and be mgtow. Period. Mgtow is: Men walking away from any relationship with a woman that subjects the man to the jurisdiction of the family courts, choosing instead to use the resources he would have used in pursuing and maintaining that relationship to his own best interest.

The more formalized relationship with a woman is marriage.

You can be "red-pilled" and married. You cannot be mgtow and married.

MGTOW is not a religion or a cult. It’s not even a movement, you can see people with very different backgrounds and mindset. The only thing that tie us together is wanting to be on our own, living by our own standards. This means that your value is not dependent on marriage or having children. We grew up with the belief we are somewhat inferior to women and that we should give them special treatment and pursuit their demands in order to have social value. MGTOW is freedom from that kind of mindset.

Now, is marriage against MGTOW? In my opinion, and in the current circumstances, it is. But I will not tell you what you should do. We share our opinions and experiences and then people make their own choices.

It's just about focusing on self progression first, everything else second.

Of course this means talent, health, knowledge, skills, wisdom, and intuition need to be maximised.

The core pillar of MGTOW is that marriage is a bad deal for men and it makes no logical sense to get married. So to answer your question, if you did get married, than by definition, you are not a follower of MGTOW. But it’s not like married men are FORBIDDEN in MGTOW spaces. You don’t have to BE MGTOW in order to benefit from the life lessons you will learn here. MGTOW is an online community with the main goal of helping men live their lives the best they can. MGTOW is basically a subdivision of the greater “red-pill” community. We welcome all men even the ones that make mistakes. There aren’t any MGTOW police. If you want to get married then go ahead. Nobody is gonna kick you out if you do. But the encompassing message you will hear from the MGTOW community is that marriage is most often a mistake. In fact, many men who become MGTOW learn that lesson the hard way. And in our community we are welcoming of them.

If you marry to get kids look up surrogacy. It is a great alternative. It costs 100k but its definitely less expensive than a divorce.

It's not "forbidden", but as a basic definition a "married MGTOW" is a contradiction in terms. MGTOW are men who have sworn off marriage, so if you changed your mind and got married, you would not be MGTOW. It's a bit like an atheist that believes in God, you cannot be both at the same time.

Your first instinct is correct the main reason for likely most of us not wanting to get married is simply the risks involved. Half of marriages end in divorce and getting divorced means going to divorce court, and that's not somewhere you want to be as a man. The laws have become increasingly one sided (eliminate risk for the woman, push it on to the man) to the point where it's just too risky to get married.
