I agree with all of the other opinions. I also see it as a way to lower the target on your back. They’ll always be wanting resources, and they’ll be looking to us to extract those resources.

If you never say anything, they’ll just find the next sucker.

The dating pool? Certainly. To date is to die in my opinion, if you want to have sex/dump that's fine but I will always judge those who continue to date, cohabitate and marry because they fuel a system that is going to ruin us eventually.

There's no need to be paranoid about baby-trapping/rape allegations just know the dangers you might be getting into. When going swimming beware of sharks :)

Predators watch for opportunities and balance risk vs reward. If you look like a good reward, you're a target. If you look like a nasty risk, you're a threat. This is why people say not to open carry guns. Someone who wants to hurt people will shoot you first, in the back, then everyone else... a situation you might have escaped otherwise.

Solution? Be remarkably unremarkable. Get on public transportation for an hour and watch out the window. On the ride back, count every person you see. Of that insane number, how many caught your eye the first time? What was it that got your attention? Then just simply don't do those things. Do the experiment again but pretend you're the predator. Watch for high risk / low reward marks and learn how not to attract the wrong kind of attention.

The human mind is always taking shortcuts to process information faster. Especially for strangers, we look for clues that let us put people into boxes. Some boxes are threats, some aren't, some warrant attention by their novelty. A neat trick is to over-emphasize character traits. Spies do this. Decide what 3 things people see first. Bland uniform, clipboard, looking at addresses? Delivery guy. If you saw the same guy by the highway you'd think he was a trucker. Context matters. If you saw the same guy with a clown hat you'd have questions, ie attention. To disappear you need to fit neatly into a box at the first glance, not warranting a second.

In conclusion it really doesn't take much effort to disappear in our busy world. Blue jeans (working class), natural gait (you have a no-rush but important destination), and annoyed expression goes a LONG way. Especially the expression, practice it if you have to. It means there's something on your mind and you probably aren't interested in anyone else's problems. Also don't look around too much, people will notice and wonder if you want to be invisible for the wrong reasons.

It's not just ghosting in the dating and social media world, but there is much out there watching and analyzing you.

There is a YouTuber Ron Braxman Tech that goes into the scary details of who and how 'They' are tracking you.

I would file this as keeping a low profile. In history past, disliked people were often drug out into the streets and shot. Right now we just have Cancel Culture.
