In this day and age we have been provided with something to fill every moment of our time. It has made us dependent on these things and thus has weakened our minds as Men.

We must remove our dependence on people and things as we are grown Men, not children. These distractions are preventing us from living in each moment.

Examples.

Incessantly checking your phone - Why do you need to check your Clash of Clans when you’re at a concert? Your mind & attention is being distracted from The Moment you could be fully experiencing.

Facebook - Facebook can be a useful tool, but too often people abuse it and use it as a platform to promote their lives. For those using it properly, good on you. Use it to promote a business or keep in touch. But, for those who obsess over the amount of Likes a photo gets, or are too busy trying show off their lives and capture moments vs experience them, you have issues.

I’m embarrassed to admit it but when I deleted my Facebook a few months ago, I went through a sort of social media withdrawal .

I lost that constant update and ‘Scrolling’ so my mind bummed out for a few days. I had a time vampire and when I deleted it my brain craved that ‘input’ to the point where I just wasn't myself for a few days.

Your Woman - I have never really needed ‘approval’ from my wife, but there have been times where I have made covert contracts and been fuckin’ pissed when my secret agreement wasn’t fulfilled. Thanks to TRP/MRP I’ve improved this aspect of myself and it has led to many benefits. I get what I want and I do not rely on my wife for anything.

I do things with and without her and she knows if she doesn’t join I’ll still have the fun alone.

Another point I’d like to make due to it happening recently is removing the need for getting permission from your wife.

You want to buy a boat? Sure, work the finances with her, don’t be a dick who runs the family into the ground so you can have toys.

What I’m talking about is better explained through something I experienced yesterday.

The family and I went out to eat. I saw a WWII Vet (he was wearing his hat) I asked my waitress for his check. Being a Veteran myself I know that what I experienced was a cake walk compared to those who came before me. The least I could do for this Patriot, who belongs to an ever shrinking population is grab his dinner. We pay both checks and go on our way, no need for thanks or any of that, the deed is done for the person, NOT for the praise of ‘self’.

I tell a friend of mine that from now on I will make it a point to pay for WWI/WWII Vets if I see them out. The very first fucking thing he says, “What did Wife’s Name say??”

What in the actual fuck?!

He doesn't say yeah that’s a great idea, you’re a sucker for older Vets, or how much did it cost … No – he asks my wife’s view of it.

We do not need permission from anyone to do the right thing. Too often Men here are dependent on their wife’s approval or ‘permission’. Remove that dependence, take responsibility for making decisions and bear the burden of the consequences.

My wife was proud and when we left she said it was a very nice gesture and she thinks that the WWII Vet will be very happy when the waitress says his bill has been taken care of. She didn't tell me to do it and I didn't ask, we know our roles and fill them.

Lastly,

Remove the 24/7 Comforts - Find comfort in the discomfort of challenges.

  • Go a day without your phone

  • Make yourself read a book each night as opposed to only playing video games

  • Hit the Gym

  • Go Hiking and spend a night in the wilderness, away from a controlled environment with heat and A/C

  • Get back to your roots of relying on yourself
