i feel lonely after a break up

Hello everyone,

So a few days ago I ended a long term relationship. It was too much lies, disrespectful and rude behaviouron her side as well as expecting me to fix all her problems. So I do know I'm better off single than with this person.

However....

I can't focus anymore. I have a very hard time falling asleep. We lived together for over two years and most nights fell asleep cuddling in the same bed. I feel so lonely in this bed alone. I do meet up with friends and I wanna stay single to improve myself before getting out there again. Just this loneliness feel like a hole in my heart and it's eating me up inside. Especially at night.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks to all of you.

Think of it as a death, of part of who you were. Mourn it. The loneliness will feel hard. But eventually, it will get better.

Go to the gym. Exercise, and get out. Walk.

Men often suffer verbally abusive, and demeaning relationships, for the sake of companionship. It’s common. It’s sad.

Rebuild your self-worth. And confidence.

Thanks man. I don't have a gym near me, but I started working out at home again. I should take more walks though.

It will be a process I guess.

  1. Exercise most days. Anything ( ride, run, walk, garden, yoga, sports, walk dog, kayak, gym, climb, tai chi, marshal arts, house improvements, step class - anything)

  2. Volunteer. ( fire fighting, rescue, meals on wheels, pet rescue, cakes for charity, cook for homeless, anything)

  3. Learn ( cake decorating, cooking, welding, chainsaw repairs, bicycle maintenance, paint landscapes anything)

  4. Hobbies

  5. Meditate or spiritual most days

Thank you, that's really helpful. I didn't think about meditation, maybe I should try that.

This is normal. So allow yourself some leeway to go through this. It's like a mourning process. In a couple of months it should start feeling normal again.

I really hope so. I feel like this is impacting my studies and puts a lot of pressure on me. Thanks man

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
