My cousin has been fighting for two years for fair custody of his child. His ex-girlfriend has been making up a variety of reasons that he is a "dead beat dad". She had convinced the courts to do drug tests (when those came back negative she requested random drug tests) and forced supervised visits for his 3 day a week 3-5 hour visits. She heavily regulated who could be a supervisor, objecting to every single person until the judge forced her to choose 5 people. I spent about 3 months being the regular supervisor while I was laid off and experienced many of her crazy tendencies. Today my cousin went to court and the Judge finally saw through all of this nonsense! He lifted supervised visits and drug testing indefinitely! I had to write a detailed letter of recommendation (for him to parent his son.... so ridiculous!) explaining that I am never doing any "parenting" and how he encourages education, healthy habits, and hygiene. Overall, this has been an interesting experience for me (single, no kids, TwoX), and I sincerely hope and pray the courts realize that mom isn't always right and that there are men out there trying to be exceptional fathers to their children. I also wanted to say good luck to any other fathers in the same situation, there is hope!
