Hello!
I submitted a petition for modification to the State of Virginia a few months back and just assumed it was caught up in the works. Well, I've decided to send another.
At the bottom of the form it asks why I am asking for a review.
So here are the details:
When child support was assessed she claimed to only be working 1 day a week, usually around 4 hours. She presented no pay stubs or any other evidence to support this claim, but the courts accepted it anyway.
I was working full time earning about 12k per year.
I now earn about twice that, but also no longer live with my parents, own a car that needs gasoline and have to eat and such.
Edit: I forgot to add that I have no idea how much she makes now, or if she is even working. I'd imagine though, that even if her income is just an allowance from her husband.. it is more than she earned at 18 years of age while working 4 hours per week.
I pay $617 per month in child support, about $200 of which is for arrears due to a good number of months where I have been unemployed during the 15 years I've been charged with paying child support.
No one I know pays as much, and everyone I know earns WAY more than I do.
I am just not sure what to say or how to say it and don't want my chances of a review to suffer because I said too much or not enough.
I'm not 100% sure if VA even cares about my living expenses, but if they do..should I include copies of receipts or something to show I'm actually paying these bills?
Finally, and somewhat unrelated.. the order was originally entered in Maryland, but I now live in Virginia and the order is being enforced by Virginia.
Yet on my credit report both MD and VA are reporting my arrears against my credit. I've called both States and been told I'd have to call the other one to get it fixed by each.
Any advice on that matter is also appreciated.
Thanks all!
