Hello Everyone,

I am a 21 year old male trying to make it through college. I would describe myself as a mild introvert who believes in being nice to people. My life in college is generally monotonous and uneventful. I try to involve myself in various activities and tend to read for long hours. I also believe that I am capable of normally interacting and talking to the opposite sex though sometimes I might make things awkward.

However, since the past few days, my life has become miserable because of a girl who keeps on stalking me both in the virtual as well as the real world. It started with an intra-college activity where peeps collect every two weeks to have some interesting and informative discussions about various current issues of social importance. It was after one of these sessions which I had the opportunity to host that she approached me and we had a chat about the session and the issues discussed therein. It was this inopportune event which became the inception of my nightmare. Thereafter, the said girl started messaging me on facebook which I deliberately ignored. I did reply to one or two messages sometimes which were essentially related to the college activities itself. She started to like my facebook posts and pictures posted almost 2-3 years ago. It wasn't troubling since I could readily ignore her in there.

However, since the past few days, this girl has been getting on my nerves by approaching me time and again even after visible disapprovals from my side. I even went to the extent of telling her that I did not really relish her company but to no effect. I would especially like to recite this one instance which prompted me to seek your advice.

What happened is that one of these days, I was in a standing in a queue in the cafeteria when this girl joined the queue. I went totally berserk and in a quest to avoid her, I left the queue without taking my order. The next day, it was almost a recast of previous days incident with her joining the queue behind me. However, I decided to take my order since I was on the verge of fainting due to hunger. She offered me her greetings to which I politely replied. She further tried to engage in some small talk which I went on to ignore. The next moment, I felt a nudge on my back and the girl apologized almost immediately. Almost milliseconds after the first nudge, I felt her hand on my back yet again and upon my expression of discomfort she extended another apology. I collected the order and ran for my life. I sat with my friends but what happened next was more than vexatious to say the least. She sat on the table adjacent to our table despite the fact that the whole cafeteria was almost empty. I could notice her constantly glaring towards me while I was finishing my lunch. I left the place immediately after finishing up.

My question is that is there anything bothersome in this chain of events or is it that I am acting paranoid? I am perpetually anxious and apprehensive whenever I am in the college. If it was a girl who had to go through this level of discomfort due to stalking and unrequited solicitation, she would be sympathised with and for the right reasons. The fact that, all my acquaintances as well as my friends ridicule me when I share these incidents, also prevents me from sharing it any further with anyone. So, my question to you my fellow redditors is that how should I handle this precarious situation?

TLDR: A girl has been stalking me for a while now despite me visibly ignoring and outrightly explaining that I dislike her company. On a certain occasion, she touched me deliberately from what I feel is the case. How should I deal with her?
