I'm having trouble imagining how that could have even happened. He was somehow able to get a qtip in the guy's ear canal while the guy was moving, before he realized what was happening and defended himself. Then, he was able to cram it into his ear drum without it bending or anything? I guess he probably peeled the cotton off of the tip he stuck in his ear, but even then it doesn't seem very realistic. I think this is a fantasy of something he'd like to do to a rapist.

Also, this is on r/askreddit. That's like the yahoo answers of reddit.

Interesting that one of the top replies is someone saying how he took "revenge" for a girl then found out she just made it all up.

This sort of violence by proxy seems very common for some women.

The difference in socially acceptable justice between the police and vigilantes is really interesting, I think. Could you imagine the responses if an officer, with just a single statement from an individual, painfully punctured someone's eardrum as immediate punishment for being accused of a crime? We very rightfully get upset at the entire justice system, comprised of cops, judges, juries, DAs, and legislators, when someone innocent is punished but if it's a man extra-judiciously punishing another man for harming a women it becomes ok?

I feel like I'm overgeneralizing and want to qualify but, in my experience, it is extremely common for 'men defending women' like this to be praised, even more so if it's women defending themselves. The View clip of Sharon Osborne laughing about a man getting his penis cut off comes to mind. I really respect Sara Gilbert for being the voice of reason on that one.

You took this girls word for it that she was raped? If she was raped she should have gone to the authorities. For all you know you assaulted and deafened a man because she got rejected or jealous or just wanted attention.

I know a girl who used guys to do her bidding against other guys she thought had wronged her. One guy dumped her and got back together with his ex. She told me and some other guys that he had raped her when she was drunk. She had one of the other guys steal his car keys and throw them in a port-o-shitter for 'revenge'.

She must have forgotten that she told me he raped her because a few months later she told me she did it out of revenge because he dumped her for his ex. Right after they had sex he got a phone call and took it on her balcony and stayed out there talking to his ex for hours. Then came in and told her he had to go and they couldn't see each other anymore (pretty coldhearted but NOT RAPE).

If she was raped she should let the police investigate, you should never take their word for it and always encourage them to go to the police. It's not for you to judge or investigate, you should obviously be supportive in every way but you are not the judge or the jury and sure as hell not the executioner.
