I had come across a post last week and Briffault's law had been mentioned. Upon reading into this I had a better understanding of what Genesis meant by forbidden knowledge. It was an like a switch went off. A zen moment but if zen was made of bad news. The realization that every relationship in my lowly existence was based on what others could extract from me was a bitter pill. Especially since ive been married for 20 years and I always counted myself lucky as I thought I had been one of the lucky ones who had a marriage based on love... I guess Im lucky that she atleast packages everything in a palatable container. The reality is I have always been a good provider and that is what they love. The other realization was that everything I thought was out of mutual love was only because I was a productive. I am an oif/oef vet and have been struggling with mental health for years. I always just hold it together because I have to. Its been a rough year, and then the realization that if I break down I will lose pretty much everything I have built has been a bitter pill to swallow. This might be a bit of ranting but holy crap. I work for 25 years and could lose everything because I break mentally while I watch a woman become a millionaire because she said hauk tuah on a viral video is a lot to process. Did I die in in Iraq in 2005 and is this purgatory? I had always had some understanding that marriage was atleast partially transactional. Then I analyze my closest relationship outside my marriage and realize that it was based only on what I could provide. This realization of the reality that is is like I have lost my humanity. What an existence, I'm a monster because I ask her to stop cutting her hair like she's auditioning for the part of a fallout raider but I get to be an atm with feelings. What a time to be alive
