LOL, I bet that goes well. "Hey we got a study from Africa that says if you cut your dick up you might have less chance of getting HIV, which you aren't ever likely to get anyway."

Of course the same sort of shitty studies say FGM is good for women too. I can't wait for the CDC to recommend that.

The majority of men in Africa who are circumcised later in life are given education on condom use.

This alone would count for the 50% reduction in HIV in these men.

Why are we not ripping appendixes out of children as soon as they come out of the womb, they may explode later in life.

The CDC is wading into the controversy because a handful of studies from Africa have shown that the relative risk of a man acquiring HIV from an infected female partner was halved if the man was circumcised.

Halved is a relative term. For all we know, intact men could have a .4% chance of infection while cut men have a .2% chance. Such a difference would be negligible. Of course, this all ignores the fact that condom use is the most effective method for STD prevention.

Further, why is it so important to circumcise infants? I'm pretty sure they're not going to have sex for a decade or two so what's the rush?

The baffling thing is- why circumcise children? If it's good for a person, let them decide to do it themselves.

Interesting. I've been back and forth on this topic in my head, but I think what it really comes down to is I just don't have enough information on the topic. I just want the decision to be based on science.
