If he's fairly certain that the kid is his, and he wants to be involved, he needs to start by establishing paternity.

Women do, sometimes, become pregnant and pop out babies. This is basic biology.

Paternity cannot be legally established without DNA and/or a signature.

If coworker thinks that it's his kid, he needs to petition for a DNA test.

If he really belives the kid is his.. he ought to speak to a lawyer to get a DNA test done, that way he will know for sure.

Well, it could backfire. He could end up having to pay child support, and still not getting any parental rights, like usual.
