The "Gender Wage Gap" is actually (largely) an earnings Gap. What people believe to be the wage gap is a simple comparison between money men make and money women make on the whole. This gap does not take into consideration the different jobs worked, number of hours, and the high risk/reward jobs that are largely populated by men, such as oil rig workers or construction jobs. A wage gap might exist if a person was to compare on title/position in a single industry, but if you try to compare all men and women in a even a single industry, then the genders of people making executive wages would largely determine who is making more.

If a single company has 9 executives who are all either male or female, and a study was done on that company comparing men to women on the whole, those 9 executives would tip the balance to the opposite gender. So a gendered pay raise would be an unfair practice since only 9 men/women are making the most money while the wage slaves all make the same pittance.

So the men vs. women wage study is flawed by design since not every job pays equally. A McDonald's part-time burger flipper should not be included in a study with executives, coal miner, and doctors.

There is no "Gender Pay Gap".
Every person who argues against it always leaves out pertinent information.
Men tend to dominate STEM fields b/c they actively pursue them. Men tend to pursue jobs with tangible end products, valuable information, and things necessary for any culture. Government (order not chaos), housing, roads/transportation, military, police, fire, EMS, Medicine. and Infrastucture. We tend to choose careers which are more dangerous, many of them pay quite well, but also die earlier from job related stress. YAY.
Women tend to choose jobs which involve people and emotions/feelings. Teachers. Therapists. Psychologists. Social workers.
Men tend to dominate the M.D. path in medicine while women dominate the Nursing path. Men dominate the more dangerous parts of Medicine like EMT, Flight Nurse/Medic, Special Rescue.
Men are more likely to miss family engagements for work to provide MORE for his familiy while women will take OFF more time for them. This is higher with school plays and activities in grade school that 99.99% of kids forget about and don't care about.
No two people will ever have the same education, grades, school performance, work ethics, etc. 100%. Therefore no two people should ever get paid the same. Men and women think differently. Given one task and a man and woman will do it differently.
Hard truths:
The majority of women take the easy way out. Women tend to value these 'staycation' periods b/c 'work is so stressful, like OMG'. A good number of women see no problem in 'faking it' (not surprised) to avoid going to work.
Women are not being kept out of higher paying jobs the majority simply do NOT seek them for many reasons. They want equal pay for LESS WORK.

I'm surprised this didn't get more upvotes honestly. Good questions like this deserve a better source of answers then what I can provide.
